Mk2 XR2 Track car..... Recaro's are in....MMS
Thought i'd start a thread before we did any work on this B reg Ford Fiesta XR2.
A couple of friends and I bought this XR2 with the idea of having a bit of fun with a track car, Sean_rs (co-founder of MMS) is one of said investors lol so will be also posting on the thread.... unfortunatly sean won't experience getting behind the wheel of this car for a while as he is currently banned from driving
Anyway.... we bought the car last month and since then its lived in my garage and hasn't moved, i took it out today to give it a bit of a clean and take some pictures...
The car has 95k on the clock, it drove the 3 and a half hour journey home without any problems at all, starts first time and the gearbox is mint
Safety has to come first so we'll be looking at uprating brakes, suspension and fitting a roll cage asap.
We managed to pick up a car trailer too last week so we're pretty much good to go.
Will update this thread as things move along, but the aim is purely to have a bit of good old SAFE fun

I went to see one listed on Ebay, in stoke. Looked identical to that, same rub-strip down the side. was quite clean, just curious to see if it was the same one

Looks like a solid enough shell, should make a fun car for a sensible amount of money.
That rub strip is the one fitted to the popular plus model, how odd that someones fitted it to and xr2?

a rollcage of course, besides safety it add some serious extra stiffness to the shell, had a xr2 before, and adding the cage made a huge difference. ( or my bodyshell was not that tatty anymore )

Does the shell have the bulge in the boot floor panel on the left for the wider spare wheel? It should make a nice project regardless

It is an XR2.
Not checked the boot floor for any bulges as yet, but it has got a spare pepper pot alloy in the spare wheel well.
Would this fit in if it wasn't an XR2, i remember my old Mk1 pop couldn't fit a pepper pot in
Cage is in by the way folks and will hopefully be picking up the S2 recaro's in the next few days

It would fit but only with a deflated tyre, it doesn't really matter though, alot of use on xrtwo.com run base spec shells these days as they are more likely to have survived unabused.
