Gave it a good valet today, armed with todays weapons!!!


All nice and polished, bumpers, mirrors etc blacked




Then to finish off i popped down to Fords to get some new mudflap brackets to replace the manky old ones- its all in the little details

A snap on the forecourt for good measure!


Anyway, serious stuff starts now!

If it,s all in the detail ,i would put a black number plate screw that goes through the 3 on the front plate.Glad to help.lol

Hi guys, sorry for the lack of updates, have been getting things moving with the car, but just dont seem to have found a decent amount of time to update the thread.
So a few posts on what ive been upto.

First thing i did was to get all the suspension components together.
Suspension spec is...

Apec springs and Shocks lowered 60mm
MEF Adjustable TCA's with Rose jointed inners
Fully polybushed front end
RS Turbo front anti roll Bar






It was then time to strip her down, so out came the pathetic 1.3 HCS and 4 speed...




Which left a nice and empty, if slightly filthy bay...





Was then time to get some parts powdercoated, ready to go back in, so this lot....


Ended up like this....

I then gave the engine bay a pressure wash, and fitted the Turbo Loom complete with ECU's. I rewrapped the loom and cleaned every single plug and wire. There isnt a single cut wire or bodge on this loom now



Once the loom was in it allowed me to put all the interior back in, which is all the same standard Bonus stuff. However, i obviously fitted Turbo clocks in place of the base model ones, but kept the milage genuine by putting the new clocks to the same milage as the old ones



Managed to get an engine that had only done 20k since a rebuild so gave it a good amount of detailing and also steam cleaned the LSD gearbox i had picked up.



Was then time to pop it in to the bay, but didnt have access to an engine hoise this time, so simply put it in from underneath!





So all bolted in....




And then tonight fitted new leads, coil, metering unit(which i fully refurbed etc) etc






And thats how she stands at the moment. Got tons more parts to be fitting but im in desperate need of one part. Its the metal fuel line that runs under the car that connects to the black fuel hoses either end. Please please help me guys and let me know if you have one

Yes mate, its my MK1

 

Jack the car up onto axle stands as high as possible. Then put the engine and gearbox onto a crawler and wheeled it underneath. Lowered the car down and put a jack under the box and a jack under the engine, jacked them up together and bolted it in

 

Ah right. Good stuff!

Thanks guys for all the positive comments. I have just freaked myelf out massivly!!!! My current cars Insurance runs out on the 31st September so this will be the point i hope to have this car on the road ready to take over. What scares me is im aiming to be taking this car for an MOT therefore on the 1st October, and just read back through this thread and its the same day i got the original one on the Road!!!!!
