hi gaz

no they should sound no differance to the mt75

if it's whining then the bearings are fooked maybe from the 1st motionshaft

i wouldn't trash it because if the bearing colapse you will scrap the box as nothing will hold the gears in place

i can get it rebuilt with a full overhaul kit for 370 thats mainly everything chaned in the T5

i have done a good few T5 for lot of people on here

just put a post up if you wish and see the reponce

cheers marco

was out in cossie last nite deffo box needs to come out as its terrible getting it off the line after that not too bad going up the gears but it crunches every time going into 5th and box is very noisy too.

another thing noticed as well is that it seemed as if something was holding the car back which is deffo transmission based felt like car didnt want to accelorate and when i was down the alley to put it back in garage even when on a dipped slope car wouldnt roll forward.......

now imediate thought was that maybe problem with rear diff but when spoke to big tony rs he pointed out possibly could be siezed rear calipers as cars been non moblie for over a year but with hand brake off.

Has anyone had anything simular happen to there cossies at all.

hi gaz

could be siezed rear calipers but just check as for the gearbox if it crunching aswell then some syncros are fook also as said before your better off having the whole box fully overhauld and that includes new sysncros bearing seals ect everything is changed aprated from gears and mainshaft selector forks

yes you could buy a second hand one but it could be just as bad and at the end of the day atleast you know you will have a fully working box once it's overhauled

cheers marco

well last week took car into work coz wanted to change over clutch as i wasnt happy with it-oh how i wish i never bothered now!!!!!!!!!!............... got a clutch off a mate who was selling his one from his 3dr and had that put on then car wouldnt go into gear! noticed one of the forks on the cover plate slightly bent in so then changed cover plate over to the one from my old sapp had that put in and now car goes into gear etc but still judders like mad on the biting point then once into 2nd gear slipps like mad im so disheartened with it now its untrue!!

...............and to just rub salt into the wounds the handbrake cable has snapped and heater matrix packed in disiding to spill its load over my footwell carpet!!

im really fed up with thing now as seem to be throwing the very little money i have on it and not getting any results with it!

may just chuck towel in and sell up or px as im fed up right now-dont know if can put up with hassle of breaking car again so may just let it go complete at what cost who knows unless i can get motivated with it again!

Ello mate,

See the problem here is you changed the clutch but didn't skim the flywheel (you haven't said you did?). The plate will judder as you lift off as there will be ridges where the old clutch bit into it and heat spots from slipping on the old one. The slipping in 2nd is because there isn't enough contact for it too grip.

and the matrix will have cracked on one of the pipes when you were fighting with the gearbox.

either way skim the flywheel and refit and it should be fine unless the clutch your fitting is fucked.

If you want to get rid I have a Moonstone Saff stg3 on f plate arrive and drive coming in next weekish that we possibly do a deal on if its that bad.

Goodluck mate
