just out of interest, how much do these cars sell for nowadays? i know i'll never own unless i get my Sgt Major's commission but every day theres one of them going around by the barracks guardroom at 4pm and its for sale but didnt see how much for on the window

Tatty ones go for £12k, good ones £15-17 and this one would need to be over £20k due to it's condition, low mileage and sensible mods.
i run the same gearbox in my cossie powered 5, im hoping to upgrade it this xmas.
you can get quaiffe internals for the std box, you have to get it from derek bell but any1 can fit it.
the kits gives you a new 1 piece thicker input shaft, thicker geqars, better ratios, and the 5th gear is part of the shaft, not bolted on.
the uprated kit is £2k so add the diff and for £3k you have an almost unbreakable box.
derek bell runs a lola with a 6l v8 in it making 550lb ft torque and on slicks he hasnt broken a box yet, and that car weighs 1500kgs
so you should be fine with that

i spoke to cts about rebuilding mine, they are going to do it as soon as i have the money.

It hasn't broken yet and given the comparitively low power out put and weight, I hope the standard 'box will be okay (the car isn't launched) .
That was just in reply to a question regarding the transmission, I have no itention of ever putting the Quife transaxle gearbox in it .
