Hi Sim

Which tracks did you visit so far? Last year I managed to drive at 10 rounds.

Another Escort cossie is driven by Klaus Hofmann.

For the complete list see, www.berg-meisterschaft.de

Hi Gaz 88

The shell came from Boreham I believe, went to a Czech rally team. I managed to get the shell for 5500 Euro with a few other bits.

Unfortunately like so many other people, all the great Gp A parts were sold off separately, it used to have a Mountune engine and a 7sp FFD box. Even all the diffs and axles were sold, hence the very first post with the stupid looking wheels fitted.

That cage was expensive to install, luckily it was included in the price of the shell.

kenny.

Some work in Dec and Jan.
Found garage for my car and trailer.

Got the car up off the ground, higher would have been better.

Started to remove parts ready to modify.

Original manifold must go. looking to fit better, inconnel would be nice for ALS.

Short update.

Motor was at the end of it's life last year at Mickhausen, no real acceleration after 100mph.

Engine is now at SCS, -cylinder head gasket confirmed leaking, target is 450ps and 425lbft as a rough figure. So in a few weeks the engine will be finished, will post up the figures as soon as Harvey works his magic.

New dogbox is being built by Bara, should be strong enough for the new motor.
rear diff is 4.44

Carbon/Kevlar parts will be,
Front and rear bumper. (original WRC carbon bumper has hit the barrier too many times)
Doors,
Bonnet,
Rear door.
Roof, if I can find one.
Electr/hydaulic steering pump under front wing somewhere.
Steering, seat and gearchange all back about 3".
currently looking for suitable Pedalbox.

tartget weight is 1030Kg. (without driver)
Front 600 kg. (300/300)
rear 430 kg. (215/215)

will post some photos asap.

Hi Kiesi

I didn't see you taking the Photo. Eichenbuhl was good last year, the weather was spot on.
Unfortunately my Turbo was playing up - the rubber membrane was split.

Looking forward to this year with a bit more power.

see you there.

Things are going ok, still loads of work to do. the 1050kg mark should not be too difficult, the last 20 will be harder.
One guy last year driving an Escort Cosworth had up to 690ps and his weight was 940kg.

I thought I read somewhere that you were selling your Escort, is it true?

Kiesi

What number was your dad last year? I'm sure I saw him at most events.

940 kg and 690 ps
thats hard. sounds the boloks

but even your new setup will work well.
Is there no power restriction in your class?

Perhaps you can list the events you will attend this year, maybe I and some more turbostylez members can visit some events and meet up with you. Would be fun

Slicks.

thats correct, and the reason why Harvey, Mike etc are helping with more power. Bara with better G/box etc.

Last year I was sometimes in the same group as,

Gabat, Hoeller, 620 - 720ps Cossies.
Pailix 600ps Lancia D Int.
Hoffmann - 690ps Cossie
Handa - 600ps Lancia
Meisel - Judd F1 Mercedes.
Plasa - Judd F1 BMW.
Pregartner 740ps Porsche GT2
Brenner - Astra DTM 2004.
Pfeil - 440ps M3 BMW.

these cars are awsome, and quick.

I even like to watch these cars when I'm at the finish, usually looking at their lines through the last couple of corners.

That would be a good idea, just a couple of things.

the cost of the carbon one is a factor. (Mike, whats your best price)?

I kind off like the original one - mine isn't original, its a lightweight copy from Fibreglass.

Hi Sim

the Escort Cosworth is owned by K Hoffmann.

Last year in Rennsteig there was a 1/4 mile event on the Friday evening. He did a 10.4 and didn't even get off the line when the light went green.

As I won't have massive power, I'm trying to get the most out of the weight and balance of the car. If I can get the car to go round corners, I might just be able to compensate for the power dissadvantage. we'll see if the ALS and progressive throttle set up helps.

Kenny,
You don't need to even buy the carbon one - the normal GRP ones are cheap as chips and will offer a significant improvement in down force and reduced drag over your existing set up .

I have emailed you a picture to give you some idea of the downforce at 130mph!
Best regards

Hi Mike

The pic didn't arrive...yet.

I wanted to keep the original style spoiler as it looks good, someday I might try the WRC spoiler to see the difference.

Reduced drag and improved downforce, it's not often that a win win situation is found.

I do like the Gabat escort's rear wings over the WRC style. of course they were never homologated so I would need to change class again. - (free style class)

Hi Marco

I have 2 sets of GpA engine mounts taken from ex boreham cars. I bought them from T F.

One set is in Kassel, being copied as we speak I hope. I need a set for my car. The second set is going back onto the Boreham car that we bought from TF.

I have one more single part, the Nr is 9096618. I'll send some photos to you. All I know about different lengths are the actual brackets in the engine bay. GpA ones are different lengths.

hi kenny

thanks for that

reasons why i ask is my grp n shell has grp a chassis mount fitted at some point ... im not 100% sure on the lenths

I know the some of grp a cars had different lenths depending on the what front diff they used

if they were RHD and had the 8.5 front diff then the engine was moved over atlittle to get clearance for the steering colume

ill measure mine if they are the same same then ill just get this other one welded up

like he gear leaver is that only for dog boxes?

Also remember with WRC rear spoiler you have no rear view visability "not that you need any in hill climb"
