Now that would depend what spec Yb as this LET build is starting to cost a few quid.

Another engine update ! We have some valves

Not much of a update but my pistons finally turned up

Due to a few unforseen charges on holiday I definately will not be bolting the engine together this month atleast with the poor weather I have less of a reason to go out so saving up shouldn't be such a issue.

The pistons were made by Omega, their 87mm and already have larger valve pockets machined into them to suit my requirements.

Well another 2 years has passed, I didn't realise it had been so long until I looked at this thread !!

So anyway here is the update for the next 2 years lol

Since my last post a few things have changed in my life, having a house for one and although work is good I haven't spent a penny on anything for the car for ages. Anyway I decided to scrap the LET engine plan and go back to NA to keep some reliabilty and allow the car to run in some sensible sprint classes as I've got quite into that over the last year or so.

So with a complete change in direction as I wanted to keep this car affordable I got myself a Honda S2000 engine with the intention to fit some throttle bodies and with any luck have a 250+hp screamer for 1/3rd of he cost of anything else around that power.

For a while everything went back on hold whilst the house and work took priority but recently I got my hands on a car basically running most of the parts I would need to finish the car thus saving me a serious amount of money in the long run and giving me the nudge I needed to carry on with it and not go out and buy a RS4 which was becoming ever so tempting.

The shell itself is still in storage, it was collected a long time ago and has sat in a race trailer ever since with a cover over it, as the original plan was a Yb the car is going to need some more fabrication to get this engine in which I'm off to discuss later this week with Glynn who has it. Whilst I am there I will get some pics of the shell to show where we are upto with it although it is basically ready to be fitted up if I wasn't changing the engine and box.

Although I have said it many times before I do hope to see the car out this year, if its not it will be very close to but apart from finances I have no other excuses for not getting it done.

So anyway some pictures :

Honda F20C
RED Dry sump kit
TWM 52mm Throttle bodies
Exedy 6 paddle clutch and flywheel

The car will run the stock S2000 6 speed gearbox as these can atleast take the high revs

Back when the shell was bring built Glynn had designed some new lower arms and front hubs which I was going to use but it would of meant changing my coilovers which was more expense, I'll now stick with the conventional Escort struts and just use adj TCA's and compression struts.

I have changed from the Gaz coilovers though to Ohlins 2 ways on the front and Ohlins adjustables on the rears, these are being sent off for a tidy up at the end of the month but they have only been used on a few events since being supplied.

All the Water, fuel and oil setup is now sorted, I am just waiting to confirm the tank base my car has and I'll be getting a fabricator I use to sort me out a fuel tank but apart from that I have everything else I need.

Grp 4 Rad for S2000 install with hoses and hardpipes.

Pace Dry sump tank, the one on the right will be for sale if anyone needs one ?

Mocal Oil cooler

Pace remote filter and 044 pump

Facet Lift pump

Fuel and dry sump lines

Poly Windows

Cobra Seats

Race Techonology Dash display

Hopefully I will get some good pics of the shell later this week but I'm holding my breath

I know Dave ! its nice to know I am not the only one taking their time about things !

Did yours get painted in the end ? Still going for a YB ?

As for the car I sold the clutch on as I have a TTV 7 1/4 flywheel and wanted to use a twin plate AP or Helix, it took all of 5 mins on ebay to sell it so I now think I could of got a lot more for it but it will cover what I need for the new setup

I've come close Ginge but decided the easiest thing to do is use a engine thats affordable and fingers crossed reliable.

Its no 500hp YB or LET but it doesn't carry the costs those engines do to look after which suits me much better, that said they make HUGE numbers from these engines in the states by fitting a turbo to stock engines but I really do not want to be getting into all that again.

More updates soon

Thanks Joe.

A friend of mine runs one in his Mk2 Astra track car and rates it highly, they are very well priced although like any dashes the sensors aren't very cheap.
