Ah, anytime I had looked it only went back as far as when the server or whatever was changed ?

Progress pics of the head would be good, are you still ok to chop it ? I'm going to research blanking off the water gallery on the side of it too as I don't think there will be the room to get a pipe onto it.

More than that

How long have you owned that Escort ? wasn't it already built and painted so all you had to do was bolt it together ?

LOL

Race on although you wont get far without a gearbox

4 years now! it was painted... white! so its had a partial stripdown and paint already.

interior is in and wiring is nearly done, so at least i have half a car! lol

gearbox is an issue for the future... lots of head scratching due there

i won one of those focus central TB's on ebay the other day, but as i won it for Ł60, the bloke had mysteriously sold it already and not ended the auction!

just found an OBX style manifold on the 'bay for Ł89.99 . bit of modifying for a hanger and some extra strengthening and it'll be sorted!

i'm going to use a ford zetec one, as a 56mm one will easily flow 500bhp according to mr norris (have read back though some topics about it)

can't use any rusty vauxhall bits on mine!

some head progress pics for you...

unfortunately i haven't got any progress pics of the porting itself, but here's what got done today:

firstly, a few poor pics of the porting, it dosen't look half as good on these pics as it actually is!

today came the time for hacking the dizzy lump off the back of the head. andy used the hacksaw for the largest part of it, then i bolted it up to the head facer and gave it a neat finish.

then a quick head face:

one finished 500+bhp capable XE head

Got a few other engine bits already, +1mm vavves, 87mm pistons are on order from Omega and should be here within a few weeks, I pick the block and crank up on thursday and hopefully the other gasket sets then its ready to be built. Dry sump will be the next on the list to order, once that is dealt with I am literally just STILL grrr waiting for the car to come back.

Thanks Rad.

Inlet will be custom made, similar sort of thing to Gavs but with a Swedish taper style plenum, exhaust will be a Nortech made one like most of the Vauxhall lads are using now

Well I've finally got my block back, sadly no pistons to go in it just yet but hopefully sometime this month they will show up.

I've had the block bored to 87mm (86mm from the factory), its been decked and had the oil jets fitted for under piston cooling.
Pics:

Oil squirters machined into the main bearing journals on the block

Seen from above

One polished crank.
