My RS History! PICS of my few RS's!
Ok after reading Adams thread i thought i do one too as its a cool idea as they say!
Right, i started off with my First RS in 1998. I was 20 and decided i wanted an RS turbo. At that age to decide to have an RS turbo seemed like a massive step up in the car world, especially after owning a few orion ghias, escort xr3i's, and a few other fords. My current car was a 1988 Xr2 in black. Excellent little car and loved it!
Anyways, i went to look at loads of RST's and they all were high prices back then, or scabby. I went to look at one in Huddersfield at a Trader. It was mag featured in FF, it was white, had twin lights and half leather, ice build and a predator front bumper...with 16inch hocks. I loved it but he wouldnt give me a good p/x. So i flogged the xr2, but that had gone by that time. Then i spotted one locally, it was a 89F with 80k and 3.5k. I knocked him down to 3k as it wasnt mint but wasnt bad. I got it home, polished it and it came up great, i was in love and so chuffed. I spent hours driving it as it was my work car too! After using it for work it started getting tatty so i bought a runabout fiesta, and stripped the s2 to the bone and rebuilt it using new parts or cleaning them...with a full inside and out respray! It looked minty mint when done!
Not many pics sadly!
Kept it for 3 years and enjoyed every minute! But i was 23, and i caught the bug! I wanted a cossie! I disnt like 3 doors then, dont like saffs so i was on a hunt for a Escos! And it had to be Mint! After loads of searching and help from Sean Bicknell, i/we found one! White, 24k miles and PRISTINE!
I kept it mint and only added azevs!
Then i had to sell it to get on the property ladder I was gutted but needs must!
I then decided while i was spending on the house id just have a little Seires one to play about with, but play about with turned into polish and again i hunted a mint, 42k mile two owner series one down! I was simply stunning! But as i was so busy with the house and had no garage, it was at my parents and i hardly saw it, so i sold it!
So, i went a while just doing the house and having no nice car. But got the idea id get a usable RST again, like my first one was when i first got it. Not mint but not bad so i could tune it and have a play! I got a red 89G 90spec! 80k ish miles. Very nice car with a few minor jobs needing doing under the bonnet!
I got it, used it for work the lot!
Fitted a BIG GRS cooler!
And 17's
And played with it like i said! Then i got ill and caught the bloody bufty bug again! And bought this
A sierra as a runabout(which was one of the mintest cars ive owned ) while i pulled the engine out and restored the engine bay!
But, as i put the last bolt in i decided to sell it as i wanted another escos!
So i sold it and went on the stressfull hunt for a mint Escos! Not as easy as you might find! After months of looking i thought id found the perfect one! Red, big turbo loads of mods! Mint! Low miles etc. Only thing is it was in devon, about 400 miles away. So we arranged to go and pick it up on train! The guy said it was mint and i trusted his word! But i hpi'd it and the VIN didnt match the Reg! It 'may' have been a mistake on the hpi books, but i would have never felt right so i didnt buy it
So i bought a small turbo off a friend of someone i knew! It was again pristine with 29k, FSH and 2 owners!
Gorgeous car but as much as it was nice, i never found the 'love' for it and after about 3 weeks i put it up for sale. It sold after about 2 or 3 months of advertsing!
I then bought a bmw which SUF now owns!
I now just have my work van But i may be on the lookout soon for a project!
I have had 19 cars since i past my test, 16 being ford. The BMW was the best drive, build qaulity and i loved it but there is something about rattly old escorts that gets to me...and ill have another!
Something like this maybe??
Who knows!
sorry if ive bored you! Thats my History of my RS ownership!
