Default Bought me and Mrs a new daily...(Audi)

Seen this advertised and just thought I'd buy it for fun ..the Mrs loves it ..she's likes them for a few years ..nice and clean and a colour you don't see a lot of TT'S in ..gave it a quick detail today ..came up well tbh ..got the interior to do tomorrow ..nippy little motor 225bhp Quattro.

When I first fetched it home this morning ..pre detail .

Very nice! The O/H has one too and it's surprisingly fun to drive.

Watch out for the suspension - they're fairly hard on the springs and ARB's. Front discs take a bullying too.

What colour is it? Nimbus? Dolphin? Dolomite? There should be a sheet in the boot with loads of codes..

get a cheap ebay vagcom lead that will also help.

I tried one of these before but due to my height I struggled to see out the sides of the car without leaning far forward to get a view.

Also thought the carpet was about as soft as a brillo pad

I like them a lot, they respond well to remaps too. The standard plastic recirc valve isn't great and a Bailey helps if you can get a quiet on. They also have a restrictive pancake shaped boost pipe that can be replaced.

I quite fancy a green convertible one. I expect the tin top to become a modern classic in yrs to come.

In the 2nd to last pic, the rear wheel has a bit of dirt still on it, this is hard to remove but i think a product called dragons breath (fall out remover) and some clay bar will help remove the iron from the paint. Ultimate finish sell it.

Damn you and your pictures, now I am going to look at a Green Roadster with baseball interior. Got to clear out a garage round the corner from where I live now as it's all full of junk.

Looks well mat. I drove one of these over 9 years ago. I got in it thinking it was gonna be fast and tbh i was a bit disappointed. To be far u was comparing it with the cossies power.

Is it the 4 potter turbos that have the single exhaust pipe and the V6s that have the twin pipes???

These are only standard cosworth power 225bhp Quattro ..I never compare a car from the next ..this is 4 cylinder turbo 20v ..it has twin tail pipes mate.

225 bhp have the twin pipes with KO4 turbo, the single pipes are 180bhp and KO3 turbo, there were also some 150bhp models too.

They will do near 400bhp on std internals with a gt28rs turbo and decent intercooler and a few other little bits. 260bhp to 280bhp is quite easy on KO4.

Here's an odd one, if you left for brake and touch the throttle it cuts the engine.

The V6 with DSG one has a "hidden"launch control, not sure about the 1.8t though.

Well today I finished the interior and other bits ..and been looking into remapping as been told it's a worth while mod ..power aside it makes them drive better with better fuel economy ..

Engine covers and hoses where taken off and cleaned with warm G101 at 50:1 and rinsed then dried ..then started to feed with swissvax plastic dressing ..took around 6 laps before it took properly to the plastics and left over night to cure .

Think I am going to see the Roadster this week coming and see if I can get it for a low ball offer...bit of summer fun. I think I just like driving lots of different cars all the time.

Started to detail my new Rangie, cleaned, fed and sealed the leather this weekend and did a thorough glass clean.

Well you owe me as now I have bought the flippin thing and the MRS is grumpy that there are 7 cars knocking around but 1 is being paid for this week by a buyer so it will be down to 6...what's she worried about?

Green Roadster 225 with Green roof plus baseball leather seats (marmite) but I love them. It has a stage 1 remap and a "blue flame" stainless pipe. Drives really well. Will pick it up later in the week.

It has a Garrett tt01 something turbo and is supposed to be 260bhp but didn't feel all that quick so will check it out.

I had a 225 in 2003 when I change from my 16v gte it was a great car had it 5 years when I bought our house totally different from the gte a lot quieter than a gte. I missed the noise of the gte and once I got the chance I got my focus rs which sounds so much better but if I had played about with it it probably would have sounded just as good. I know the 3.2s sound well

Ok, will get some pics up. Needs a few bits doing but will be fun. Drove well.

I think 260bhp is the norm on stage one. Mine has got a short shifter, felt odd at first but after 5 mins it was swapping cogs very well. It was owned by the president of the TT owners club and has a lovely history file starting with the orig £31,500 invoice from 2001.

Let me know who will be mapping yours as I might get this one checked, Although I might see if Mark Shead can get me a power run at Guildford to check it is all as it should be.

I have got an old plate on retention V77 OBY which I used to space V7 7OBY to sort of spell my name, will chuck that on even though it has an odd TT plate now.

Needs an armrest so looking for a baseball leather one to suit and a few bits to tidy up by I am going to enjoy this car. I am really glad you posted when you did.

Is that a flap disc you used on the drill to clean the exhaust tips? I assume it would be soft? Looking for something similar.

Cracking looking little TT's chaps!

Being Audi paint, they do really last well - it's a bit of an arse to machine polish as it's pretty hard, but the outcome lasts and lasts.

Had Cherie's Mk1 invited to a relaunch of the Audi showroom in Northampton July 2015 as it's so clean and 100% original.

On the TT forum I'm on, one of the Owner's Club reps had been approached by someone from Northampton Audi for some TTs to be on display for their new 'Showroom Showcase'. So I volunteered my little beast as she's presentable and standard, which is what they wanted. Apparently they've expanded the showrooms, and were having an invitation only opening night.

The display was MK1, MK2 and MK3 coupés and roadsters:

The MK2s and MK3s that they'd put on display could have done with a clean first!, and the MK1 roadster that had volunteered could have done with a going over with a bit of quick detailer, so mine was easily the cleanest there. Even so, and even with us knowing she's in very good condition (barring a couple of little cosmetic niggles to sort), it was very nice to get some compliments from complete strangers (and some of the other TT owners who were there too) on her condition.

Wow, that is super clean. You are right about the paint, it is very hard. I don't think mine has had paint and there are near zero chips.

I couldn't give two hoots what others think, if my mates did the limp wrist stuff I would just smile and laugh with them, I just don't take myself seriously enough for all that. I have already asked a few friends if they wanted a hair cut.
