New F1 sound
#41
I've been to silverstone and Belgium for the F1 for the past 13years, and the main allure was the sound. It was so loud that the first car you heard each year left a lump in your throat and totally speechless as your memory never quite remembers just how insane they sounded. This year, with the stupid cocks on the noses to get 'around' the new front aero regs, and engines that frankly sound about as exciting as the car that I'd be arriving there in, I'm seriously debating whether it is worth the £1000 plus that I'll spend to go back to Belgium for a weeks holiday to watch them

It's been a long time since I've really been interested of what's happening on F1, the engine change has given a little more interest an appeal.
Altho they don't seem to sound as spectacular as I imagined a high revving V6 turbo should.
It's actually a shame but an interesting in my mind, that the advances on the modern engine technology have resulted in such a perfect combustion and perfect exhausts that competition and even civil engines sound much more "sterile" nowadays. ie. The modern Mercedes V8 sound which everyone seems to love but it really don't give the chills like old skool stuff does. I think the same is happening here with these V6s.

Think they said 3.5 bar. Limiting factor being that they have been told what max fuel flow rate is
But, almost 0 lag as the ers system spins the turbo up when car is at idle..
The amount of energy the things create is crazy... Listen to the noise after Lewis Hamilton stalls it....

Bear in mind we havent heard them fully revving out or 24 of them together, it will still sound pretty darn good, and with the huge torque they now have and less blown diffuser you will see the cars sliding and out of shape a lot more so the action should be even better than of late

"And by 1986, the power figures were becoming quite crazy- all of the engines had unrestricted turbo boost in qualifying, where they were developing 1,350+ hp at 5.5 bar boost (80 psi)."
