got her started today!!!
well, ive been battling with this car for a while now,last owner(s) was a complete bodge artist, fitted a turbo technics kit to an xr4i but decided to not fit the extra bits that retard the ignition and add extra fuel, also didnt plumb in the intercooler, then wondered why it pinked on boost!
so ive modified a boost module from a saab, fitted a 3 stage warm up regulator for the fuel(this was £250 on its own!), fitted a fuel filter instead of the garden hose (i kid you not!) and done a hundred other things,but, here she is, running!
A reg thunder saloon kitted xr4i with mk1 xr4x4 running gear and Turbo technics single turbo kit.

I remember this car quite well. Guy who owned it many moons ago had my old man fit another 2.8 when he blew the last one. He had the TT kit fitted by somebody else but it never ran right and wouldn't spend the money to get it running right. Did you buy it from P.A autos by chance

Got it on eBay, private seller I believe but yeah at some point someone has spent a lot of money and effort on it, but other bits are cowboyed right up! It's taken 6 weeks and about 500 quid for it to get to this stage, but it's not finished yet, need timing etc sorted properly, but I'll get there, I'm determined! If you have any other info on it I'd appreciate it as all I can find online are pictures so far, seems the last owner was more interested in buying stickers and badges for it than getting it running right!

Will have a chat to my old man about it later. I know that originally it was supposed to have been running a 2.9 twin turbo set up but it was sold with a 2.8 N/A. If I remember it was a tuning company demo car hence the kit/ full 3 dr interior and had some 10j wheels. I tried buying it off him at the time but he wouldn't sell.
