Tacky or not... I've always quite fancied having a fishtank in a wall. This type of thing:

it's only 30 litres.. now houses a panda goby, a yasha goby and a small black and white clown. that's it for stocking fish wise I reacon.

got a couple of coral frags in there so far. I have more on order, just waiting for the weather to warm up a little bit so I can get them posted over to me.

i've been keeping marines for the past 10 years.. This is my 4th tank. Decided to scale down to a nano tank this time.

Love that cube... Mandarins are great. Are you going to try breeding them? I had a pair that did the dance but I didnt get any eggs out of it. I've had a couple of pairs of breeding clownfish in the past but never managed to get the fry past 14day metamorphosis.

Here's my 5'x2'x2' freshwater aquarium which i've had running for just over 5 years.

If I had the right sized/shape house i'd definitely have an in the wall tank, not everyones taste but i really like the look.

I'd love to go marine one day too, just need to make the jump really.

Not worried about the breeding, just love the fish. cant wait to get it going but its slow due to it needing to be mature.

yeah have you seeded the tank with sand from your main one? you can buy pod packs too to help with the pod population.

This is a tank from a bloke local to me, he's had this tank setup since the 70's, some of the corals are 30+ years old..

Another local tank.. I took some pics for this guy before he broke his tank down last year due to ill health..

Lovely looking tanks there fellas. I've gone for a tropical set up. Is it a nightmare looking after salt water fish ? But they do look shit hot.

Those little nano tanks look great, my mates in the process of setting one up! As you say its a waiting game for the right levels of maturity to be reached etc!

If I ever owned my own place and it was big enough id love to have a tank wall, literally have one wall removed and replaced!

Its easier to keep a larger tank, when things go wrong its easier to sort. I haven't had any issues with mine and apart from higher running costs and more equipment required it kind of runs itself. Think they look amazing.

There is a mis-perception that they are hard to keep. They're not really. They just need a bit of patience and research. Like tropical they are as hard or as simple as you want them to be. My dad has a tropical freshwater planted system and he faffs with stuff too, although not on the scale that i've seen a lot of enthusiasts do. It's a far cry from an undergravel filter and throwing some guppies in though.

The key to marines is patience.. slow and steady wins the race. tanks need to be built up over years not days..

I've seen lots of people come over from tropical tanks saying "i've kept tropicals for over xx years!".. That's great Now forget everything you know or think you know and start again.. It's not hard, it's just different, it's a different ball game. and a LOT more expensive!! but there's always ways around that, there are always people selling up good kit or livestock for half shop price or less..

I'd love to do that too.. I've seen some cracking builds on a fish forum I frequent.. One bloke's built a tank over 20ft long in a conservatory and uses natural sunlight to light it. There's a pic of his missus swimming in it!.

Any links? Sounds amazing!

I keep tropical although only actually have 4 fish in a 6ft tank at the mo, so not very exciting!

Fair play to building a tank that big. If I had th money that's what I would go for.

I seem to have got a problem. I bought 10 fish at the weekend. 5 Molly's and 5 balloon Mollys. One of the black balloon Mollys has gone ! Wtf ! I've heard thy burry them selfs in the gravel to die sometimes ? Bloody strange. The other fish wouldn't of eaten it would they ?
