I have see that van in falkirk before, My first thought was wtf until i seen the intercooler
I thought it had a C20LET
Do the sabb engines offer significantly better internal geometry and a beter flowing head to make them worth fitting over a C20LET ?

Saab comes with a T3 or T2 flange, and has internals that rival a YB for strength.
Saab also has management that can be altered quite simply to become home remappable.

Just got a monster lack of time at the moment though, seem to be spending all my weekends working rather than getting on with my cars, and also TBH what little time I do have for cars I would sooner spend on the clio, the nova is one of those "on the back burner, it will be done when its done" kind of cars as Ive got no real need for it anyway, but the clio we want out and at trackdays as soon as we can.

Chip, which is generally the strongest Saab engine in stock form?
I've got a 250hp B235R on T7 but read the rods are only good for 300hp which is a lot different from the 400/500hp "internet" figures for the B204/B234

Cool, I'll have a look into that. I know the B235R pistons are different to even the B234R so a little mix and match might get me a few more reliable hp, it's my road car (and is in a Saab for a change lol) so rods, injectors (and possibly fpr), better front mount and a t19 housing should see 300+ hp which is what the 1700kg Gentleman's Express needs lol

probably will need to use a b235 head as well, but IIRC the valves are weaker and I cant use volvo valve springs on it so will need to find another solution to the problem ive already solved once of stopping valve bounce, lol
Thicker head gasket might be an alternative solution though!

You don't have to lower the C/R to gain 400 in a FRS mk2... Just cooler turbo and injectors...@ 400 the van would still beat it... Purly down to weight and it's less midly power than the Rs.... As can't see them been evenly matched or the van would have pulled more.
