Just looked like a fairly insignificant twitch watching through... , Unbelievable car control / reactions controlling that when you see what actually happened in the replay

He did it in 19mins 37 seconds and averaged 115mph. The fastest ever bike was a Honda CBR1000RR who did it in 17 mins 12secs at 131.578mph. So more than 2 mins quicker!!!
Be really interesting to see how fast a really fast car would do that in, rather than an (admittedly quick) standard car.
Seeing that the fastest bike is over a minute slower than the fastest car around the Nurburgring (and cars are generally faster than bikes around circuits) I'd imagine a car 'could' theoretically be faster. But which one? It would have to be small, very very fast (the bikes do 190mph) and able to cope with the bumpy track, so no crazy single seater.
So which cars do you reckon would be in with a shout?

WRC cars would probably lack top end, as would rallycross cars - But how about some nutty hillclimb car like Mike Endean's Puma? He'd probably end the race without that splitter, but it's got to be in with a chance?

I thought a bike av" 135 mph this year and also a top road bike costs about 12k ish in comp" to a top road car , but then any thing can be put on the road with a day light mot , and the bikes top 200 mph on them roads which i would image it eould be hard for a car to top on there ,and bikes are one wheel drive in comp" to that 4wd car, you would have thought that 4wd car would have been faster , but I think it would take a lot to be as quick as a bike round there as they are fucking nuts

Granted a bike would be a lot lot cheaper, but just wondered how fast a very fast car would go. I think there have only ever been three attempts in a car - Tony Pod did two, then the Subaru one. Would be fun if a handful of cars had a go at the start of the TT every year!

I think a modified WRC car would be the way forward. The suspension is designed for closed roads like that, but with a revised engine and gearbox to allow for the faster speeds.
Could probably take your pic of the late 2.0 ones to base it on. I think that would probably be the best bet if you wanted to use something existing.
I think the likes of Porsche/Ferrari might struggle on the bumps compared to a WRC type car, but they could no doubt be modified.

Rock Out!!
Guys, I live here on the iom.
If you tried driving the course with full on track susspension I doubt you'd make it to quaterbridge. Even tarmac rally set ups here have to have enough give to stop the pot holes launching you over a hedge.
@ staffi ~ I have several times. It's not pleasant
