Default My FG XR6 Turbo

Hi All,

As requested in another thread, I am posting some pics of my car.

Its a 2008 FG Xr6 Turbo.
Stock it has 270kw at engine (362bhp). Pulled 226rwkw on the dyno (302 rwhp).

Since owning it I've had the following done:

20" wheels
Tune (remap)
Post turbo alloy replacement pipes
Crow Race Valve springs
60lb hi flow injectors
3.5 inch turbo back exhaust with 100cpi Cat
Double platinum spark plugs

It now puts out 290kw at the rear wheels ( 389bhp). Approximately 350kw at engine ( 470bhp).

Mods to come include a larger IC and stronger turbo actuator. Should take it to 320kw at rear wheels ( 429 bhp). Approximately 380kw at engine (510bhp).

Yes. I believe the XR5 Turbo = ST in Australia.

And they need to be a large motor as it need to haul 1700kgs.

No vids.

Exhaust note is actually quiet compared to a v8 but louder now that I've done the exhaust.

Induction noise & turbo whistle is loud. As is the flutter when the throttle body closes.

Not a huge fan of the wheels, however, love the power and general look of this.

Looks like they are pretty nippy even as standard as well:

Cool cars, would likely cost an arm and leg to run over here with the price of fuel in the UK... but I really like them.

That first vid is a previous model that's been modified. I think i've met that bloke on one of our "falconxr6turbo" forum night runs.
My car is a ZF equipped auto so only makes the flutter and whoosh noise when quickly snapping off the throttle.

The current FG model has been out for 2.5 years and when the press tested them they were able to repeatedly pull 5.1 for 0-62mph (two people in car, full tank and A/C on !). When mine was stock I had a best 1/4 time of 12.89. Best that I know of is a flat 12.6

Neither am I. The minister of finance and fun chose them (she uses it to drop the kids off at school, go to the gym, etc)

I wanted these and may still get them !

Here's one with a remap as its only power modifier. Tuned by the same guy that did my work.

There's no V8 turbo model from factory.

We have a 5.0 v8 supercharged from factory made by the Ford perfomance arm (FPV).

They are quoted at 335kw at engine (450hp).

However, Ford seem to be underquoting the power figure as they are pulling 330rear wheel kw on the dyno. Allowing a 16% driveline loss these things are putting out approx 390kw at engine (520hp)

Heres a freak car (remember this is power at the rear, not engine!):

My tuners own car at the drags (tune & exhaust only):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMOqYoQXEHI
He's now done an 11.2 on street slicks. Makes my current best of 12.19 slow by comparison.

i knew there was a blown v8 of some variety, i cant help but wonder what that would be like with twin turbo's with a forged bottom end 1000+bhp capability surely

No need for a twin turbo V8. See below:

Thanks Rigwrecker.

Had a re-tune after installing 180f thermostat - now sitting at 305 rwkw (409 rwhp) or approx 365 kw at engine (490 bhp). Hopefully will be able to get into the 11's for the 1/4.

New wheels - the Mrs destroyed one on a pothole. I wasn't displeased as I was able to get some better ones IMO.
