Default Show us your one-off modifications/parts!!

I see a lot of project and rebuild threads on here where people have been forced to think out of the box and come up with solutions to fit bits, both inside their cars and outside their cars.

I've never really done much of it myself, here is an example of how technical I got when I was bored and decided to fit an A/F ratio gauge in one of my old cars for a laugh:

Not seen it done since to be fair.

I thought it'd be cool to see what you guys have come up with since there are a lot of clever/handy people on this site.

Cheers,
Grant

I own the car now for nearly 10 years. The car is far beyond standard so there are many individual solutions...

Relocated the battery when I put the MFI engine in, so there was no space left for the bonnet hinge. The washer bottle is located behind the upper engine mount

adjustable camshaft pulley

ERST S2 rad in MK2 XR2

blue injection lines, RS1600i inlet made to fit XR3i system pressure regulator and auxilary air device, chromed Opel OHC oil filler cap

External OT sender

and later modded to fit the XR2 engine bay

Hole for second wiring loom (full mappable injection)

XR3i air filter box modified (K-Jet unit removed)

electronic injectors fitted to MFI inlet parts

injector testing

"old" dizzy HT leads modified to fit to late type ESC twin coils

Porsche TPS to be fitted to RS1600i throttle body with RST parts

smaller fuel filter with carbon bracket and special connectors

ECU and additional fuse box in centre console

RS1600i instruments into XR2 MK2

Present for a friend of mine

That's a tight engine bay, no wonder you were struggling for space at times!! Have you got any pics of the RS1600i clocks fitted into the XR2 dashboard mate??

Good spot buddy, yes it is!! One of my favorite ever cars, 216GTi Twin Cam which uses the engine from the Honda CRX... stripped out back end, big dog cage fitted instead, went very very well for a Ł300 runaround. Sat on 5th gear limiter without any fuss at all, IIRC that was around 130mph.

If I could find another one, then it'd be getting bought, they make a fantastic car to cart the dogs around in. ...here's a picture of the wee minx for you Ran.

Engine bay looks better now. I've relocated the battery to the boot and the injection pipes of the K-Jet also are gone now.

They've got nearly the same size like the XR2 clocks. When you sit behind the steering wheel you probably won't notice a difference.

Dave has to be the absolute king of custom touches. Every time you look at that car you just keep finding neat little bits that have been done to it, it's amazing

Some really impressive stuff, the wee styling touches are great, but some of the technical and properly one off major components that people are knocking up are amazing!!

IMO Twins car is one of the nicest on the site, let alone just the nicest ERST

Few of mine..

The only mk5 Zetec-S in the country with this conversion, so quite a few custom bits... also seats from a Rover, with custom mounts..

(will update when my photbucket starts working again)
