i genuinely believe the breed of dog is irrelivant mate, as far as its nature, its how its brought up and treat. ive know staffy's, rotti's, all sorts, that have been the most pleasent natured dogs you could ever meet, and jack russells and yorkshire terriers that have been little twats, so the size, and breed, is irrelivant in my eyes, you judge each dog on its merits.
i know what your saying about people opinions though. i took oki down the town not long after we got her, had to carry her because she hadnt had her injections at that point. go into the bank to pay some money in, and the woman behind the counter gives it 'awww, it looks like a little bear, isnt int adorable, what is it', i said, 'akita', and she takes a step back and says 'oh, arnt they there dangerous ?'. yeah, if you treat them like shite, just like any other dog

yes mate, a lot lol. but i have this twisted addiction to hoovering, so id be hoovering everyday, wether we had the dogs or not, so it doesnt really make much difference. but you would be surprised how much fur they can loose in 24 hours.

Kev, akita inu temprement taken from wikipedia
Akita Inu are renowned as loyal dogs and are also intelligent. The loyalty of an Akita named Hachiko established the breed as truly loyal to their owners. The famous Akita Hachiko spent nine years waiting daily at the Shibuya railway station for his deceased master to return home. Hachiko's popularity brought back the Akita from the brink of extinction.
Akita Inu are very good with youngsters from their own family, and often quite playful, although they should be watched around other people's children as they could knock them over during play
The Akita Inu have a reputation for sometimes being aggressive towards smaller animals or other dogs, particularly those of the same sex. However they can live happily with other dogs and animals providing they are socialized well. They are excellent guard dogs and naturally protective of their home and family. The Akita Inu has a reputation for being an excellent house dog. They make great family dogs with the right training and socialization

My dad had a jack russel and it bit me 4 times. It was a nasty dog.It was my dads dog.If my dad left any of his clothes out or even his slippers the dog would guard them and go for you if you rouched them,he was a right little bastard.

thats what i mean mate, dogs with a bad reputation because of there breed or size, can be the softest dogs in the world, and nice little dogs that have a good reputation, can be nasty little twats. judge each dog on its merits, are nature, not on the breed

im not saying all akitas have mate, depends on how there raised/treated, and there massive/powerfull dogs, so could easily have a fully grown bloke if they wanted to. but every akita i know of, and know personally, are big soft bears.
its the reputation they have of 'japanese fighting dogs' as some call them, is what puts a lot of people off

its like night and day now, 6 months later, and she looks like this
as for expense. she is full pedigree and keneell club registered. i got all her papers when i got her, and a reciept from her breeder, who sold her to the guy who almost killed her, he paid Ł650 for her as a pup, but as soon as she had been given her hystorectomy, and couldnt have no more pups, he didnt want her, and gave her away
