Painted carbon is cool, as its then there purely to save weight rather than also as a fashion statement.

I did that as an example where the weave is thinly painted before the clear coat. Kind of like an F40, when the sun hits it you see a pop reflection of the weave.

Note - i've left it slightly darker so you can see that it's carbon - if you paint over cf, all you can see is paint, not any of the weave

You can see the weave slightly its not hugely visible but it's there when you look for it

For the cost of it, and I'm guessing its a road car ? Don't bother mate I only buy carbon because I like the look, and for parts that look good with bare carbon

Wings is not something that will look good showing and is waste of time painted IMO !

its exactly the same as what you have done just with slightly larger weave so you can actually see it, rather than it just looking like low resolution fuzz.

Made the weave a bit more subtle by soft lighting.

Does anyone know if you can paint CF to leave the weave showing? As I'm not 100% if it is possible, yet I have some photographs of a Ferrari F40 from a show down at silverstone and you can see the weave in the red. Would this be red carbon fiber?

It is indeed for a road car. Its somthing diffrent, and the cost isnt a big issue.

silly me, there was me thinking the guy wanted to know what it'd actually look like. I'm sure people at shows and stuff would be real pleased to see extra large weave - just so they can see it properly

People at shows wont be looking at a 800*600 pixel image, so they will be able to see details without them going fuzzy.

I guess its the same as I wasn't aware that carbon fiber was just horizontal lines that dont even follow the lines of the bodywork. Never mind maybe one day I'll be as good as you at photoshop

in the same way you said "looks fuck all like carbon", then did exactly the same thing.

Well done though on contributing to the thread with pointless criticism.
Conor.rst got the idea of what it will look like from the pictures I did, so it can't be as bad your making out.

What im thinking is.

Carbon roof ( in carbon)
CArbon tailgate ( painted)
carbon spoiler ( in carbon)
Door handels ( in carbon)
Bonnet ( unsure)
Bumper striper ( in carbon)
Front splitter ( in carbon)
The triangle bit that the mirror connects to ( in carbon)
And the wings ( in paint)
Carbon heater box ( in carbon)

Stuff like the handels and mirrors will just be in a carbon cover Everything els will be complete carbon.

Yes, the carbon bits, but then why the need for the painted parts ?

If it was a out and out track car fair enough,

But carbon can get chipped and go white, it then needs 1200 paper flatting and re covered its not exactly easy to maintain for a long time, my morettes are going a bit

Both of these are:
Spoiler
Bonnet

Bumper strips
Mirror plates
Handles
Although these three are quite hard to see at low dpi.
