Nice kit. Try not to do to much with your computer. I know its easy but taking good photo's is hard.

As above, spend some time reading the manual and studying the camera.
I've had my d300s for a while now and i'm just getting to grips with it.

ViewNX is nikon's free all rounder software. Organizing mild editing etc.
However, if you are looking for something else to learn I would suggest photoshop CS3. By far the best version.
