hi mate,

the labatts sierra is original, stored for over ten years on display,

where these cars are old they have been reshelled/restored/rebuilt ect

so it very rare to find good examples.

most old race cars are bought by private racers so end up in other championships, and as a result get damaged ect.

i have seen an add by at the biggining of 1991 advertiseing the labatts cars
@100k each

luckally the guy who kept this one was lorence bristow, very good racer who bought both 1990 cars for himself

his car haveing had the most race damages, he converted into a thunder saloon,

and raced in for a few more years,

and tim harveys car he put on display for labatts in a football club for over ten years.

Im really Jealous!!!

Im actually watching a 1989 BTCC Video at the mo - Laurance Bristowe stacking it backwards into the tyre wall!!

Martin - Probably a really silly question (going by the sheer tech spec in hte pics of those cars) but is the Labatts one Tim Harveys 1989 car???

If so - DAM!

Fair play to you sir...

hi mate,

its TIM HARVEYS 1990 car, same as the 1989 car but with slightley difference colours, but i am told its the same one he used for both seasons,

labatts sponsered him and lawrence, and when andy rouse built them they where about 165k each to build, so they only replaced them when they had to.

tim was quite easy onhis car and only had 1 small off when he tangled with mike smith, with very small damage,

where as lawrence bristows labatts car was wrecked at lease once, he had a very big off at birmingham street curcit,

martin.

Cheers Martin, really fascinating. Andy Lloyd (Gareth Lloyd's brother) has an ex- Dick Johnson RS500 that Rob Gravett drove in the same year. It still is in the TrackStar colours. He brings it out of hibernation every now and then.

http://www.cosworthchronicles.freeserve.co.uk/Lloyd.htm

Please don't offer to buy it off him Martin as I am sure we would all like to think we had albeit a slim chance to own one!!

I'm sure Martin will divulge but the clue is on the tin.....................BBS

I remember reading an article in Fast Ford about a guy who did the single nut job on his wheels and it cost him a fortune

.
It might be 'cos the plastic item is lightweight, does the job and very easy to see how much water there is at a glance.

Who knows but it kinda makes sense?
