I've gone all Jap..... My Honda Civic Type-R!
Had this almost a year now, but its the first time I have ever tken any pics of it Bought it at 16,000 miles, 1 owner, air con etc etc, it has now done 23,500 miles. Just had to replace the front tyres and front brake pads.
It goes really well as a standard car, and I love the fact they rev to 8500rpm all day long
I've not gone completley Jap though, the Cossie is still in the garage
PS... Check out my avatar

Yes they are like chalk and cheese! lol!
The gear stick being there ia awesome! Its just in the right position to get your hand back on the wheel in a hurry! The quickshift on them is the fastest on any car I've driven. 2nd to 3rd is literally as quick as you can move your hand
They are about 200bhp (just under I think) and the book speed is 146mph, although I had mine just off 150 mph 15 mins after picking it up from Honda! It took a while to get there, and was revving at around 8k

I have no intntions of doing anything with the Honda, I just get in and drive it, and it goes through Tescos car wash once a month
Also Honda have never had a warrantee claim on any of their VTEC engines, so reliabilty is pretty good
Lee, yes thanks for the card , hope you enjoyed your prezzie!

I tried first a Blitz which gave great sound but shit power infact felt slower and loss of tourque
There are the Mugen boxes etc but they defo aint cheap so after giving up on air filters I found this its 150 odd squid its made by AEM "American Company" http://www.aempower.com its there Cold Air Induction V1 (the v2 is pants)
Im a DIY Gimp and fitted it in 1h 45m ps the pics below show the filter it moves it into the front wing area pps YOU DONT NEED TO TAKE THE BUMPER OFF TO FIT IT Just the inner wing plastic
ps not my car cos I couldnt be arsed to take pics filter is now bottom right (you have to cut a tiny bit of the inner wing plastic so it fits very easy junior hacksaw job bar that no fuse box relocation etc like other kits
So what do I think of it ? Easy to fit well made cos its american and performance... Well its revs even quicker There is defo more pull n power there on non vtec its a normal sound then just before vtec you here it suck then in vtec holy fuck it sounds like a race car prince
get ya self on here http://www.civictype-r.co.uk/phpbb2/index.php in the group buy section contact a bloke called Hansic and order
Really makes the car feel more alive and ALOT more fun just dont drive through floods and be careful cos you might suck up sheep small children and dogs in vtec mode I cant recommend it enough
couple of pics of mine

Looks well Kev!
I didn't know they did one with the filter where it is there, most I have seen have them in the engine bay. I am in know rush to touch the car, the only thing I did was put an Alpine head unit in, but the Honda speakers are awful! I have just put A st of front tyres on, and reading the Honda forum, a few people said you cant improve on whats on there, so I put Potenzas back on. What do you run on yours?
Did you know the first plugs change on these is 76,000 miles
I havent had an engine last me 76,000 miles yet! lol!
Yours looks well nice in the pics!

Ian
Fuse box moving is way past my DIY capabilities and asking for trouble IMO
V2 as I understand uses different widths of pipes to give it power and driveability but sits in the engine bay (in the civic application) thus may suffer from heat soak so i read and costs more the V1 sits outside the bay so gets muchos cold air
They say about the V2.... The AEM V2 Intake utilizes a dual chamber (using two different diameters and lengths of piping), to create multiple frequency sound waves that help charge the cylinders with air throughout the entire rpm range. We have realized significant power gainseven over our original Cold Air induction systemswith the AEM V2. We are confident that it is the most sophisticated, power producing air induction system on the market.
ps did u see there civic race cars nsx powered rwd 6 second 200mph monster dragger or the FWD Civic The AEM/DriverFX.com FWD Civic was the first front-drive, four-cylinder dragster to successfully incorporate a longitudinally mounted engine, and exceed 180 miles-per-hour through the traps. In 2001, the car was both the NDRA and IDRC class champion, and was second in NHRA points in 2002 behind a RWD dragster, prior to the series' class rules changes. The AEM/DriverFX.com FWD Civic is the World's quickest and fastest FWD drag car, and AEM Racing intends to keep it that way by campaigning it at select events in 2003 in search of seven-second timeslips.
need i go on
as I said simply click on the Honda forum find the guy called Hansic wait a week or 2 strap on jump in and rev up
