Im knocking the door of the bloke with the Mk2 Escort, MK3 XR3 and MK4 XR3i all rotting on his drive in the morning armed with my camera. See what happens.

tracking down the owner and this car comes with a lot of extras i.e another re-built engine, 2 metre units 1 still in the ford box, 2 turbos again 1 brand new,boxes and boxes of samco hoses but not yet fitted plus half a dozen gages for the interior, ford racing ones, full leather interior in owners loft, new bonnet and bumpers, spoiler plus side skirts.

Well it didn't go quite as I'd expected.

I managed to get this photo of the undercover MK2 and XR3



Then realised a rather big, pissed off bloke was watching me through his window.

So I shouted can I have a word mate. I noticed while waiting for the door to open the XR3 is a little rough. Arches loook good, but bonnets got half its paint missing, and I'm 99% sure the covered car is a MK2. It's on clover leaf wheels as well and got the little sharp spoiler. He came down and said what do you want. I said I live up the road and pass these cars everyday. I was wodering if you'd be interested in selling any as I'd like a new project. He said it depends how much money were talking. I said I realise these cars are worth more than scrap value I'm not trying to con you. I'm not interested in the MK4, but I've always fancied a MK3 XR3 and if thats a MK2 Escort under that cover I'd be interested in that as well. As I said "a MK2 Escort" he looked quite angry again and said I think you'd better go and just leave it.

Seemed quite weird. The Transit has a wheel clamp on its front wheel and the garage, MK2 ,Mk3 and Trasit are all bumper to bumper, so he obviously doesn't want them stolen, and must know what they are worth. Just seems weird how the MK2 Escort is the only one covered up.

But he doesn't seem to want to sell them. Might drop a note through his door and ask him to ring me if he reconsiders.

 

I thought I saw a picture recently of a blue capri outside a barn with motorbikes driving over the roof. I thought it was in this thread but can't find it now. Does it ring a bell?

 

i found this at the local wrecker's ahahhahhahhah straight as fuck and very little rot i have not found any welding on it. now i must go get it and stick it in the back of the shed till i get time to do something with it.

 

i also found this one as well not as good as the first one but still solid just surface rust from being rubbrd down and left

yeah , i found a few old cars , i asked one see if she was selling it because the tax on it was from 01 , she said no , i got my mate to go the next day and the car had been bloody shifted!

there aint no rust on it 2 fuel lines and a battery and shes good to go bar the obvious

I Know of a s1 turbo that has been sat on a drive since i moved to bristol in 1993 another old man that refuses to sell as he is giving to his grandson to restore, will take a pic next time i pass, also seen a saff cos 4x4 looking sorry for tiself in a garden last week, will try and get a sneaky pic of that to, in magenta

 

Not sure if Im with you on this ?? if someone was snaping a picture at my cars on the drive I think I would slap um round the face.
I know it seems strange that the guy doesn't do anything with them but maybe one day he will ??? he know's what they are worth. Im not having a dig or anything just saying what I think
