Cheers peeps! With a genuine 54k on the clock and ziebart (sort of waxoyl) treatment when new, she's definitely clean. Mint as a box of polos. Great fun to drive, although the clicking is annoying me so i'm going to have to look at the rockers/tappets. If i had a spare bit of cash (someone buy my golf) i'd get myself a big valve head and a DGAS carb. With the 1600 being squarer than the larger engines, that'd rev out quite nicely i feel

Very clean and tidy mate, I like em like that! Shouldn't bother with the DGAS on a 1.6 though, just bore the DGAV out as in the Vizard book (or wherever I saw it)

LOL i'd love a V6, but the insurance company would do something unpleasant to me with a broom handle i think. As for boring the DGAV out, not sure it'd just be a case of dremelling... Wouldn't i start taking chunks out of the jets and things? I reckon bike carburettors are complicated enough, i daren't mess with a car one just yet...

Wey hey, looks good, but i bet it dont go that quick. I have a mk3 capri 1.6 laser in white, bit rough around the edges of the bodywork, and generally not a bad motor, but boy is it slow

I was thinking of dropping a 2 litre pinto in there for the time being, as it will happily replace the 1.6 without too much bother.... food for thought for you

Or find a V6 or V8 and have fun fitting one of those

Looks clean, but get some rims, a spoiler and a bigger engine!
