Default Somerset Stages Rally 2009

Started the day on a downhill section on a stage called Timberscombe which really sorted the men from the boys. Some drivers seemed to free wheel down bits of it while Hugh Hunter in his Focus WRC was on a proper mission, almost took a step back he looked so quick

Then it was to the uphill blast up the tarmac on the Porlock toll road

Rally winner for the second year in a row Will Nicols.

Second place Hugh Hunter

3rd place Andy Burton

Cheers

Great pictures.
But you should try a longer shutter speed to get some motion blur on the wheels.

Did they run the porlock hill stage though?

Yea I know, but my panning technique is shite and the cars come out blurred, deffo need more practice at it.

Yea they ran porlock twice. The 1400's do their runs first then its the big boys down to what ever else is running.

Did you get any good porlock sideways picutres then mate? thats normally the best spot to be in, although becuase of that often hard to get a clear shot from due to the crowds!

Sadly not. I didnt get to Porlock until the stage had started and all the car parks near the tighter stuff was full so ended up at a few S bends near the end of the stage.

read in Motorpsort news today that they are planning to have an endurance rally in the same area with stages up porlock, in the forests and at night as well. They are hoping to have it this October
