Default My daily drive - Range Rover P38 (More off road pic's)

Just thought i'd post up some pics' of my daily drive, posted pic's of my yb powered sierra estate before but never owned a decent daily drive to post pics of, all comment's welcome,

Its a 2.5 DSE straight six BMW td lump for those of you that don't know,
Plan's are to get the clear top rear lights to match the front's and would like the windows tinted, private plate (dateless) and HID headlight convertion all when funds allow,

and its not just a motorway car it does see the hard life, love going off roading but need to get an old one cause don't do any thing too harsh in the P38,

steve.

Running cost's i dont think are too bad for the size of car, road tax is and same as any old car very 1.6l unless your looking at 2001> I get 25 mpg and i don't really drive it slow, you are looking at over Ł100 to fill it ( I think i put Ł117 in once and that was before the fuel price peaked) I don't really fill it to the top very often whats the point in carrying all that weight in fuel all the time. There are loads of after market parts about for them, Did a clutch a while back only Ł85 for 3 peice kit, air bags are about Ł70 if your unlucky to have one leak,

As porkie said there is a lot to go wrong but you've got to be very unluck to have every think go, and there is loads of info on the the internet to help you,

I heard the V8's have a few probs loosing water think its head gasket's or liners but not sure and i don't the 4.0 feels much quicker than a 2.5 td, if buying one make sure everything works before you hand any cash over including low range as not many get used properly, like mine.

I had a lovely P38 4.6hse on a P plate, qbout 6-7 years ago. Had to sell it as I moved house and was doing a lot of miles. Probably the only car I look back on and wish I hadn't sold it, I loved it and so did the wifey.

Great cars, but if I were buying another it would be a 4.0 se with LPG conversion.

Nice motor mate, loving the articulation pics. Good to see it being used properly.
All the gadgets in these make them awesome off road. HDC impresses me no end!
Seen a new rangie and a disco 3 cross axled and articulating and the terrain response thing does all the work for you and gets on with it!! Shame alot will never get properly dirty.

Fancied an Autobiography P38 a while a back when i found one at about 5k! I know you can get them even cheaper now. Mrs wouldn't drive anything that big though. With all the specialist garages and breakers etc running costs are realistic but you're effectively running a 50k+ motor still. I know a couple of people who have had 5+ rangies and love 'em. Still reckon they are the benchmark for a luxury 4x4.
