Just curious what cameras was used for the recent bird shots.
I really struggle with DOF (depth of field) using my Nikon D50. Even if I set the aperture to like f8 it still just a few inches of focus so many times some parts of the bird is out of focus. Im using a 80-200 2.8 and I guess I could zoom out but I then object gets tiny.
With a full sensor camera the DOF would increase with 1.5 and I guess that would be great when you photo small objects.

Very slick matt, like the colours and the themes, only thing I would suggest is maybe using smaller pictures on the very first page, im using a wifi hotspot so no true sense of download speed but it did take quite a while for it all to load up. Other than that though wouldnt change a thing, all comes together nicely

Andreas, that full frame dof factor you mention is actually the other way around. It's slimmer.
Cheers Stephen, you m thinking I'll make the pictures a little smaller, my home Internet is crap and it takes a while!!

New toys for me:
this has replaced my D80 as a backup.
New toy, i can't wait to run a couple of rolls of film through it! 22mm on a 35mm film format so nice and waide. Bargain at Ł16!

I definately wanted the grip to, it feels well weighted, comfortable and well built. I shoot in portrait orientation alot and it suits me perfectly. Pretty cheap these days to.

It seems were both right.
http://photo.net/learn/optics/dofdigital/
It's all explained above but the example i had in my head was with a prime lens, say a 50mm f1.8. On my D3 at f1.8 the dof would be slimmer than on your camera (a crop sensor camera lets presume) because it's not a true 50mm on a crop camera, the field of view is more like 75mm.
as i say it's all explained above, you just have to take into account the focal length difference.

Im liking that alot , i've seen shots done like that before and in the right frame they look amazing , only thing that would look better is if the front bit didn't look like it had a light shining on it if you know what i mean .

Muska,
Cheers buddy! It's a really really good lens, I'm very happy with it and at a fraction of the price of the Nikon VR version.
Still waiting for my first Rally outing with it though...as this is one the most used lenses in the forests as it's that good
