Yours is 10 seconds at f5.6 so a massive difference. If you want the detail in the moon your not really going to get any decent surroundings unless you take multiple exposures or if the scenery is extraordinarly (sp?) bright to allow the quick shutter speed you need for the moon.

Lots of great stuff on the last few pages, stephen that windmill is just epic. i do wish the competition rules were re-written...
I've been very busy the last few weeks editing a wedding i shot, definately where is envisage my career going in the future. I'd love some thoughts on these examples.

there are 10 in total on my flickR if anyone wants a look over there.
I rented a D3 for the day and it was just sublime to use, and i can strongly recommend the Gary Fong lightsphere for anyone wanting something simple to use for on camera flash portraiture.
regards,
Matt.

thank you very much, comments like that give me a real drive to make something of this.
Inbetween making a graphistudio album for the abve couple i'm making moves to be in a position for being able to offer my services to clients in the near future. Exciting times indeed!
Regards,
Matt.

matt, the weding photos are bang on, so different to the norm but in such a good way. Id be chuffed to have my day captured like that. Looks like the D3 worked very well for you. It must be a daunting prospect going into the wedding tog industry with so much competition, but truthfully pal I think you'll walk it!!! I hate shooting people, its horrible but obviously your comfortable with it entirely. Go for it bud
I know people doing it full time that arent even a quater as good as some of the work Ive seen on here from you and they are busy all year round.
cheers
Steve
edit to say, her finger nails are nice

Steve, danneth thank you both.
It's equally daunting and exciting! I'm lucky i have a decent job thats in no danger of going as my primary source of income.
I used to find it hard shooting people to, but practice has made me much more comfortable doing it.

Matt.

Steve that second shot is wonderful, i don't know why you are not making print sales. Have you considered stock photography?
Paul that portrait is superb, i bet your neighbours are thrilled with it.
Glenny, thank you.

Thanks Red & Sarah, these nice comments mean loads to me. I may be days away from hitting the button on a D3 of my own. Few more sums to do.

Muska - I do really like your wedding photos - artistically and technically great
However, I don't know what the rest of the photos are like, but if it were my weddings, I would be worried that the artistic nature of the photos detracts from the actual subject matter, if you know what I mean? To have a small number of shots like the above would be fantastic - you could hang them in your hall and they'd make a great talking point for guests, for example - but imho looking through and entire album in that vain would get tiresome (show me some colour!!) ![Wink](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
Hope that doesn't offend - I'm not critiscising the shots, which are brilliant, just questionning whether it's what people want for a wedding album.
Regards,
Chris

Chris,
I know what you mean, there is only a small selection i actually processed in this way, and in all cases i processed each image as a standard colour image and perhaps a B&W if it worked also, to give the bride and groom a choice. I will end up using some of these in the album, but only as the B&G have requested. I do agree that an entire album of this style would not stand the test of time at all.
I'll upload a couple of colour shots and post them later as you've asked.
regards,
Matt.
