Three birds were reported to have been hit and when the jet arrived my mate was faced with this ...

another hit the wing ...

Birds nil, plane three ...

When i used to do structural repairs You should see shat we used to find inside the leading edges, smaller birds go through the skin like bullets

Oh yeah can you imagine sat in the plane with your earphones on watching a movie then you look out the window and see a turkey fly past

Dam right though i mean plane wheels are HUGE yet the bird is nearly the size of them

Loved some of these responses

This happened on a Boeing 737 so the nose wheels are condiderably smaller than the mains .. 'only' 27 inches dia compared to 45"

Anyway heres what my man was left with after he peeled the beast from the nose gear ...

That's not a bald tyre mate. That's got loads of wear left. Don't forget, they are only used for taxiing and rolling down the runway. When they land the tyres are not spinning so will run upto landing speed as soon as they touch, hence why they wear: main gear tyres wear quicker as these touch first at a higher speed. That tyre will last another 10 flights minimum. Aircraft tyres are not normally changed until you can see a large %-age of cords

Big old bird that. Have done some bird-strike cleaning up before..not nice and stinks
