My Escort mk6 and ST170 - Update 15/09/07
The Escort
I started to get withdrawal symptoms from modding after getting rid of my MK6 Finesse (see Sig), and there was no chance I am modding the ST170....so I started looking on ebay at Escorts and Orions.
Looked at 2 other cars....
a mk2 white orion - funky noises when steering
and a mk3 escort cab, was a bit too sh1te
Kept looking and found a mk6 that was twice my budget....but very local, took a look and it was a beauty. Few little problems, drivers window switch had a lose connection, indicators don't turn off automatically and the passenger mirror internals were a bit broken, all problems that I could easily sort. Oddly enough has a ghia front grill, genuine Ford "Escort" embossed matts, Lockwood sill protectors and the RS2k little black splitter on the bottom of the front bumper.
Best bit is...a 1.8, no Air con, and no ABS, so nothing to make changing brakes expensive and a bit more spce in the engine bay....which will be needed.
The day after i picked it up.... 6006e blue led stereo allready fitted, window switch fixed and 2 new tyres fitted.
So drove it to work for a few days, Good old ebay and there 7 days free drive away insuracnce.
Found out the brakes are a bit....erm dodgy, so only driven it ones since on the road while the ST170 was having a bit of work done. Then started doing a bit of cosmetics work.
With the wheels done it was back out for a good wash. Then back in, plenty more cosmetics to be done...
Time to give a proper wash and wax....Came up very well, showed up the bonnet needed what i thought was a respray....hmm no, Farcela G3 is amazing stuff.
However currently the car is bumperless and having the dent on the driver wing removed, by me of course.
Half the kit is painted now.
Calipers cleaned and painted
Engine bay tarting up...
Back end now finished, ignore the exhaust.
Latest is...its been having RS2k brakes alround fitted along with Eibach spings and the strutbrace fitted. it will be back soon MOT'd too.
There is a lot of work left to do, I have Cossie pop outs to fit and i need to finish undersealing it and also there is plenty of tidying left to do under the bonnet. And i still need to finish spraying the skirts.
And the ST170
I've had this 10 months now, stunning car, very underatred
Used as my daily drive.

People who have them love them, people who dont usually say they are over rated lol
Few reasons i got the Si, No ABS, not keen on the half leather also not keen on the insurance.
Shocked that you know the colour....unless i mentioned it lol
Well its got the brakes and suspension fitted...
