hello all!

not been on in ages! been busy on the ka!

first thing! i no its a ka and a lot of ppl will say y did i do up a ka! an do you no what i say! cause i like them! and the look on ppls face's when a little ka piss's all over them is gr8!

anyways back to the ka!

its a 1998 ka2. as satndard it was a 1300 black bumper ka with elecy windows and boot release. so it was near bottom of the range ka!
then i got hold of it! i have own the ka for 3 1/2 yrs now. but the last 6 months have been the most fun. the ka came of the road beginning of july this year, after buy a frst engine from jano at oddkidd 4 months b4 hand. it has taken me on a drive way 2 months to do the 1300 to 1600 turbo conversion!

first think was remove the engine, which on my own took a day to remove and another day to clean up the engine bay and remove the wiring loom that i didnt need!

then the second think was to get the gearbox send off to have a cvh starter motor housing welding on to it! as im using a ib5 gearbox which is fitted to the ka as standard!

once the gearbox had come back the rst engine and gearbox were installed into the enginebay using a blakey conversion engine mount adaptor plate. when the gearbox was off being welded i uprated the head gasket and changed all the gaskets on the engine, meaning i got to have a good look at the enigne i had bought!

once the enigne was in and installed, i started looking at the basic's ie: wiring loom, coolant and boost hoses! lucky for me my cousons and close friends own rsturbos aswell so there was plenty of standard hoses and pipe work laying around to get me on my way! i uprated the standard 1300 rad to a 1600 sport ka rad and installed some escort cossie ventes in the boonet to help with the cooling.

a ebay goody! full enigne loom sensors, ecu and 195 chip (not installed)

as i have upgraded to a bigger engine, i had to think about brakes so i bought some 280mm puma build conversion brakes for the front, and the braking is gr8!

not the best pic in the world.

once the enigne was in and running i had to think about what to do with the interior, after a couple of days thinking about what to do, i got up sold all my stereo system and pulled the rear and front seats out, ribbed up the carpet, but in a lovely pair of frst recaro's and fitted a rear strut brace, and left it like that for now!

after i was happy with the way she was, i went out and got a set up on her, so that i didnt rick popping the enigne b4 i had even been able to drive her, so i went off to brooklands horse power in brooklands to find out that chris todd was now working there and was the right man to set her up! on the rollers she prove to have 130.2 bhp and 145 lbs of torque, for a standard enigne that is in a tiny space that will hold heat i think that is quite good. then it was off to make her road legal, with a mot, tax and insurance!

with all that under my belt, she was ready to go to her first car show of the year as a RS! and i couldnt have timed it any better the first show was ford fair! was on the ka owner klub stand, so some of u may have seen me!

.

so there she is the almost finished actirle! i have myself a flocked dash on the way, along with a full/half cage (not made my mind up yet).

but make sure you look out for her in performance mag next month has my feature is in that month, along with a small feature in the trax's section of fast ford, hopefully!

so what do you think?

Looked good in the mag feature, I also like the removable piece you've cut on the front bumper, very imaginative.

@ Kossie

Did you sell yours? I like that too!
