All been said before...
'throw in some twisties ' or
'actual roads he'd of got battered '
But a near 380hp Evo getting beaten by a s2 with just over 300 is a SERIOUS achievment even in a straigt line

While very impressive by the time he's got past the race would have been over in most case's.
Throw in some corners, some bumps, some damp weather, some passengers etc etc.

Bloody impressive stuff from a 1.6 Escort. Be interesting to see them both start at say 30mph in 3rd, takes away some of the Evo's advantage, would be a good indicator of their true performance
Just a shame Gary had to muller his engine so it can't be done now, he'll have somewhat of an advantage

Bit like the evo owner saying... Be interesting if my car weighed the same as the escort, and didn't have 4wd losses above 100mph.

Not really
For them to be on the move, starting at say 30mph in the same gear, then both flooring it at the same time would give a comparison to each car's power delivery. I would still expect the Evo to win, as I would imagine it's not as laggy as Christian's car (I was too in awe to notice it when I went in either of them ).
It would just be a different way to test their performance, and in a way would be a more realistic test, because it's not often you go from a standing start.
Anyway, it's an irrelevance, Gary's car will be getting on for twice as powerful when it's sorted

I would say yes every time, i don't like launching my car, and to be honest you need to be very brutal to get an evo off the mark quickly.
30mph in second would be better, however if we are been realistic its likely the road wouldn't be straight.

Starting in 3rd would show the cars power lower down in the rev range though? In the real world it's not all about high end power, so starting in 3rd and going right through would be a more interesting test to me, or maybe both lol
I'm sure you do have to be brutal to get an Evo off the line, but I would guess it's trickier to get a 300+bhp RST off the line quickly
