ive been looking into this more and now im more confussed than ever :P , are the GTI springs the same as normal mk6 escorts or the same as an RS2000 2WD ? i cant seem to find a proper listing for these they all seem to be different .. also im thinking of getting some RS7's for it but ive been reading horror stories about tyre scrub on mk6 escorts once they have been lowered , now i dont really know what to do for the best ? any help would be great

Looks like a 60mm drop to me. Looks mighty fine on the 7 spokes too
I had a GTi a few years back, that was on 17s and lowered 30mm, didn't have a any scrubage, saying that I didn't carry any heavy people in the back, so I don't know how much of a difference that'd make.

tyre wear
there is a way round the tyre wear problem if you lower it 60mm providing your using uprated shocks too.
and that is buy 2 new front lower arms, and where the ball joints sit they are riveted in. Grind the rivets off, take off the joints and cut 15mm off the end of the arm. Then align the ball joint up and drill two new holes (10mm) and put some M10 bolts and nuts through them.
the wheels will now sit at the same camber angle as if it were sitting at standard ride hence no more paying out for tyres every 3000 miles and your boots will last for ages! and yes it wil pass the M.O.T!

My GTi is lowered 60mm on a full Gmax kit and have no tyre wear what so ever but then i only have 16 inch mondeo wheels. But my mate is lowered the same exact same as me and same kit and has 17inch Rs7 and does not rub anywhere and looks spot on

lowering will wear your tyres on the inside... diy suspension realignment isn't for the feint hearted and could easily leave you with an evil handling car that trys to kill you.
that looks roughly a 40mm drop, its hard to say though some cars sit higher than others , depedns how parts have warn etc
