woah just realised how long ago i posted on this thread.. i new absolutely nothing about cars but from then till now ive learned alot and my escort bonus is now full rs spec!

brought it like this



then it looked like this



then i did this



but got a replacement engine which looked like this [thanks darryl once again!]



then i was feeling 90 spec and changed it all to this




then last summer i wanted to respray it and it ended up like this



but the finish came out like this





then the 2nd engine came out and ended up here



which meant that it was time for a conversion and thats when she sat in the driveway like this

i dont know why i keep saying this and this but somewhere inbetween all of that i got these refurbed



which meant this is how my escort bonus ended up looking like

but almost 7grand later and i finally got this in her



been a long road but the joys of going through so many ups and downs with my car .. but the main thing is i have no regrets.

great little projects if your thinking about doing one but u dont know where to start then trust me on this i didnt know where to start but now i know my car inside out and all that hard work has paid off!

yeah i know ive spent quite a bit but thats like everything ive spent on the car including buying it,insurance, and all the rest of it..

it has burnt a hole in my pocket but i can live with it if u get what i mean?

and the way i see it is u cant put a price on gaining knowledge.. once u know u dont forget.

i know i maybe bringing this thread back from the dead. but bonus boy, your first car is the reason i bought my current 1.3L.

I shit you not iv had this photo as my phone screensaver since i found the pic on google. that photo was the deciding factor behind me buying my beloved bonus




that is exactly how i want mine haha. what was actually done to it? iv been trying to work it out for ages, but what did you do to the wheels? grey and diamond cut? were they in mint condition before you had them done? so many questions haha

anyways heres my 1.3L. still totally standard atm. iv got some RST wheels in the garage, i just have to get round to refurbing them.

Can i have wheels that have been scuffed diamond cut? am i right in thinking diamond cutting is just taking a layer of metal away from the face?

All fully declared through A-plan fully comp for Ł620, Adrian flux quoted me Ł600 but wanted an extra Ł200 in excess so for the sake of Ł20, if the worst happened yada yda yada.

Tried several classic policies but no one would touch due to the RS lump

oh and can 1.6gl owners join in or is it bonus only ?

Yeah tried them matey, but like i said they wouldn't touch because it's a base model with an RS Turbo engine. Cheers though.

Got this last night, its a 1.3 Pop shell but has full EFi XR3i running gear along with Koni's, big brakes, full stainless and couple other bits. Gonna return it to a standard (ish) Bonus and then my brother getting it to make into a wee project:



Parts for sale will be wheels, EFi set up, mint 90 spec bumpers and possibly bonnet - will put a proper for sale post up in the relevant room though.
