91 Scorpio sequence for entering keycode needed
Greetings fellow Ovalists!!
I'm Steve, first post here.I'm not a million miles from j6kyt,as we pass one another anonymously on a daily basis.Only overtaken once......cough.
Ahem....yes,anyway,on Friday I picked up a 70k mile Granada Scorpio on a 91/H plate
Bit embarrassing this really.I worked for Solomons Ford down in Camberley when these were new.Day after day I'd enter the key codes into many cars. Can I remember how to do it now? Can I f***!!!
I have every single piece of paper this car came with new,and every piece of history. It doesn't tell you how to do it in the audio manual ,unless i have a supplement missing!
So,I have the Ford 2008 Radio/Cassette top unit, with not an amp like earlier cars, but a single din Ford CD Player in the botty slot .
That seems to be the unit with the three dashes on the screen.I have the security code.I can figure how to put the code in to replace each dash but where is the button to tell the unit you've done it ??
Seems the units locked itself now.Is it right you have to wait 24h until you can try again??
Thanks in advance.
And if you see a Crystal Blue H plate Scorpio flash you from now on Jackie, its only moi! I preferred the Orange ST,and never knew you had an Escort Cossie over there! Would like to see pics of that some time.

Does it look like this?
You'll have to leave it switched on if its locked, as in leave it switched on, don't turn off the igniton..Until the dashes reappear.
Some Ford radios will give you another chance to enter code if you press and hold 5 or 6 whilst powering on.
Like you I worked on Fords back then (and still do) but struggling to remember what button enters the code. On the more modern units you enter the 4 digits using presets 1-4 then 5 to enter.. have you tried that?
Quick Google suggest on Ford 3 digit codes, preset no 4 enters it.

Alright geez!??
Thanks for this. And yeah the unit is like that.
Another member in Lincs then! I'm on the borders in Deeping Saint James. Are you at TCH Oxney Road??? If so you probably know my car!Its been in there for 18 years!
Thing is mate, the head unit shows as radio working when powered up.Its just almost inaudible. Its the CD Player below which has the 3 dashes on.That has a row of three buttons next to the screen, the leftmost button enters first digit etc etc but which is Enter. We just don't know ! I'm working on the principle that once the codes put into the Disc Player it will unleash both beasts!Well,90's retro versions of beasts! I'll assume the amps in the boot or somewhere and that some c*** hasn't pilfered it lol
Nice one!

Ah, so you need to put CD code in.
I can't remember that either (it was the early 90s after all..
)
Text a mate to ask he said use the scan and skip buttons to put code in then the play button to enter.
Nah, not TCs.

Hey really appreciate the friendlyness here and the help.
Splendid!Out I go again. The neighbours will think I keep popping out for a J! I left that in the early 90's,something which has perhaps clouded both our memories.....

Yup,read that a bit too fast mate!
Ok thanks.
You don't leave the ignition,as in red lights on the dash on do you? You do just mean first click (accessories position) yeah??
I don't really want to burn the coil out etc if that might happen!
Thanks again
