Happily retired
Would have to be near 65 to remember those days first time around. I prefered my Austin Healey Sprite to those things.
Mark Syres once a great Cossie fan & Middlesex RS Secretary started a company to modify those Lambretta's about 5 years ago he said they were making a comeback .

Been into the mod scence from a teenager, my old man was an original MOD and then a Skin so picked it up from him.. It was the first proper youth movement that decided music and fashion

cossie fan (unluckerly)
Not a lot lol when my bro had his gp200 i had an r1 at the same time. Thing is with sports bikes its always turns into a race which is fun as thats what there about. But with scooters its more about the social scene and just having a laugh without the 170 + race on public roads lol. I like both to be honest and did find when i had my r1 id ride alone as riding with mates was just a fast way to iver end up without a licence or dead

They turfed me out until I'd paid up!
Fair enough, rules is rules..
The Mod scene was brilliant in its day, being a total way of life like it shows in "Quadrophenia"
I watched it with my 16 year old son recently, who was gobsmacked by it. "Was it really like that?" "Oh yes, and more.." "Wow, there's nothing like that going on now!"
Just as well some would say!
The scooter thing is just pure escapism. I could just about afford it then, of course I can indulge in it a bit now.
The motor has an MB Developments 196 barrel with modified head and intake using a Dellorto 28mm carb for mid range. Induction kit. It has a 60mm stroked crank and forged piston all balanced. Electronic ignition with an Agusta tuning box. Devtour exhaust. 18bhp and 18 lbs ft torque. In other words, three times the power it left the factory with! Quick enough to seriously annoy Harleys in traffic..
It also has BGM billet shocks and progressive springs.
The result is amazing in terms of how much better it is. I can ride potholes now that would have had me off before, a major advantage!
The mirrors and chrome are just part of the whole thing.
There's a big Vespa/Lambretta thing going on, which is a bit like the needle between Ford/Vauxhall and Subaru/Mitsubishi. Hysterical when you think about it.
The side panels read; WHY DON'T YA ALL F F F... (Roger Daltrey)
Anarchy rules ok..

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Amen to that, nowt like it......
However I do appreciate the proper Vespa and Lambretta's and some of them are just awesome. My brother in law and sister were into them in a big way in the 80's and he had some lovely ones. I used to read Scootering mag too as they were always in the house.
When they got married a lot of their friends turned up on their Lambretta's and Vespa's, combined with some of the local football hooligans, NF skinheads and some HA it made for an interesting but good day

There's an amazing amount going on out there with people of all ages. There was a local charity mega ride out earlier this year, 30 scooters and around 6000 motor bikes! We got a great reception from the bikers, unlike the 1960's..
