I do it, well i did until last week anyway when i sold my WR. I dont know your area but you can ask your local council and they should be able to supply you with maps or at least point you in the right direction. Basically, you can go on anywhere signed up as a 'byway'. Providing its not a restricted byway in which case it should be signed up as such. Make sure you carry a good basic tool kit and spares with you if your going in the middle of nowhere, and obviosuly make sure your with someone else and not on your own ideally.

Been offered a xr250 a well would this make a better enduro? im thinking a road legal rm250 maybe a bit unreliable being a crosser

the XR would be a better all rounder mate as its obviously more 'road' based. I dont know much about the XR's but would that be a 4 stroke? If so, then you'd be better off with a 4 stroke if your doing a fair few road miles to get to places.
If your just starting out and new to it all, then id go green laning before entering into some enduro's mate.
I regret selling mine already! in fact im going to look on ebay now for something a bit cheaper for the winter.

I wouldnt say theres anything wrong with your RM if it wont do many road miles though mate. Its just a 4 stroke would be better if you will be doing plenty of road miles. We always see plenty of 2 strokes out and about. We used to cover 50 miles on an average day out, and 30-40 of that would be road miles in around 2 hours. The other 10-20 would be green laning which would take us the rest of the day, around 2-6 hours with the usual breaks inbetween, depending on which route we took.

Yer the xr would be alot better to be honest 4 your needs, as long as you get a half decent one in the 1st place these things go forever ( the military have used them for years away in remote locations were they need 100% reliability) they arent what you would call quick but thats not really the main priority .... As said the Rm's likely to cost you atleast double in maintanence costs etc.....
