Default Rarer Ford insurance

I have a querie for insurance professionals, some fords not classed as classics had a limited run which surely must class them as rare so in fact should have some sort of classic style rareness policy, my case in point is the likes of the st200 saloon and the escort gti estate etc, so what say you ?

Excellent question! I myself have wondered this also. I'm sure many others would ask the same.

St200 and Gti estate? Hardly special cars despite limited production.

thats the point some cars like the mk6 rs2000 which are still out there in large numbers can obtain classic car status and they were made in the 90s on mass, if insurers ignore these other ltd run cars then they are ignoring ford history as there is many other ltd run fords out there, who would have thought a basic mk1 escort with poverty spec would now be worth 10k, the examples of this are endless hence asking the resident insurance gurus on here to comment

Being rare just means it costs more to insure as the parts are unavailable.

most classic schemes are really aimed at cars over 25 years old , so they wouldnt quite fit a classic scheme however with it being quite rare you could look at doing an agreed value policy , i hope this helps

i wouldnt go as far as saying they are being lost as such . if you go to a specialist the chances are they will know a bit more about the car than say admiral or churchill etc .
it helps when you are talking to someone who who is as in to there cars as you are we beleive , with these sort of cars id be more enclined to say you are more likely to look after it as its as rare that would be refelcted in the premium

Not true.
My dad had a Bristol 411 and a Morris Minor traveller at the same time and the Bristol was far cheaper to insure and that's a much rarer and expensive car, even a front wing new was in excess of £1000.
