Default Runaround Insurance Help?

I'm insured with someone who unfortunately cannot mirror my no claims onto a seperate policy for my 2005 Clio 1.2 runaround. So I'm faced with silly quotes by entering info in with ZERO no claims, because I don't really want to end my policy for the Focus with the current insurance company.

Any advice folks?

You still have your NCB whether it is with your current insurer or you are applying to another company. It is you that has the NCB not your car.
Just try applying stating what your entitlement is and see what they say. I'm pretty sure your existing company is required by law to give a statement of entitlement if asked.

Already tried, they said that they are unable to "mirror" the no claims to another car. Which in a way is right because if I had 2 cars with 2 sets of no claims on 2 seperate policies that have started on different occasions, then logically I should be able to pick up 1 years no claims in 1 year on each policy (2 NCB in 1 year). Doubt they'd agree to that But if I started a new policy with zero no claims, then I would be able to start 2 seperate NCB....but the prices are ridiculous for just a bloody 1.2 Clio!!!

Hi Cochyn,

As per my reply to your PM.

We are able to mirror NCB to a 2nd car providing it's a performance car (or modified car) with a limited mileage requirement.

Your best bet would to be to look at some mainstream providers (ie. Swiftcover or Esure) for covering the 1.2 Clio, run the quotes on the basis that you're going to be using the NCB with them and check the end result.

It would mean potentially changing your existing Insurance for the Focus Cosworth, but providing your driving history (accident/incident) record supports we would then be able to mirror your NCB to the Focus (being the cherished, performance/modified car).

This would work, but it will mean looking at both policies rather than just the Clio 1.2.

Again, as per my PM - if you drop me a PM with your contact details (or call 01277 376000 between 9am-6pm) we would welcome the chance to help.

Kind regards

Tony
