I'm 17 and the lowest insurance I could find was for my 1.4 56 plate fox is £2850, I've searched through alot of cars and that is the lowest possible car I can find. When my brother was 17 (2yrs ago) he was insured on a 1.3 KA for £3000 these are the lowest cars we could find and he was looking around for about 3-4 months. Really want a 1.8 sierra as someone said above he can get insured on one for £1300? I've been quoted £4400 lol

Take a look at the Yaris. Not the coolest car, but I've found it the cheapest for a young person to insure. The 1.0 engine makes 70bhp (has vvt) so it's quicker than a Ka too.

tried really hard to get my son insured on a £400 1.1 saxo, cheapest quote we had was £2700, so he bought a yamaha 125, when 18 we tried again and was quoted £2650, so he is now 19 and was quoted £3100, so looks like he is staying on his bike which is fully comp for £450 a year, and the saxo is going to grow flowers in the front garden

Right try this...

Go compare...
2 named drivers on policy!
3000 miles,

Try a quote with no mods...

Then one with mods.

I'm 22 and pay £900 fully comp on my s2 turbo. At 17 I paid £1500 full comp on a 1.1 Saxo.... Because I change do much on the policy to find out what was cheaper ect

Can I ask, with the multi car does it have to be same surname? ie Husband and wife? Im not married but do live with with my partner, not sure if would still apply?

people need to forget insurance group when it comes to young drivers. Sure if you try and insure something stupid yeah it makes a difference but other than that the claims history of the car type is more important.

eg the example black beauty gives above, the 2.0 focus is clearly in a higher insurance group.

however, corsa 1.2's are commonly driven by young drivers and are also commonly barry boy'd/chavved up and then crash

Traditionally a 2.0 focus would have been out of reach the last 5-10 years to young drivers and hence the claims history isnt that bad.

Its the same with the saxo VTS. often its cheaper to insure nowadays than the 1.1 all because no one could insure a VTS so got a 1.1 and chavved it then crashed it

I'm in a similar situation with my dsaughter approaching the dreaded 17....

1.0 Corsa worth £1000...

Her on her own £3100
Plus me and the wife £1550

WTF is that all about by adding 2 parents it halves... mental
