Default FRST at 18

Hi, I recently bought an FRST to restore etc, and am intending for it to be finished for when I am 18 and have held my license for one year. I will have no no claims... Do you think it would be possible to get insured on it for itro £2000? Has anybody on here insured at RST or similar at 18 recently? Thanks

I do not think you will get insured. If you do it will be very expensive
When I was 18 I struggled to get a decent quote for a xr2i

All the ones I tried were ridiculous...wasn't looking high and low though because got put off big time by what I was getting. Not worth it imo. I'd say after a year or two yes but not at 18.

I've just been quoted £2700 for a mk1 Focus RS and I'm 19 with no no claims, just shop around a bit and maybe add someone like your dad or mum to your policy, makes a hell of a difference. I reckon you can do it. Good luck anyway.

When I was 18 (2 years ago) I was paying £1300 for Third Pary Fire and Theft, on my XR2i 16v. That was with 0 NCB and had my license a year.

I was getting quotes for an RS Turbo around £2000+.

I was insured on my xr2i, first car, at 18, TPFT garaged in a very secure rural area and paid £1700 so I'd say no. Escort RST seem to be cheaper to insure than Fiesta RST as well.

it could be quite pricey for ya, but make sure its your own policy, but add your parents on too as secondary drivers, it helps to bring the premium down! also, play them off other companys, ring around and tell them uve had quotes a couple of hundred pounds less than what they offer, and let them try and get it down!

Tried adrian flux, told the person on the other end the car, she put me on hold and then said sorry for that car you must be over 19 and wouldn't give me a quote of any description. Call themselves specialist insurers...

I had to go on my dads insurance as it was too expensive to insure a escort rs turbo when i was 18/19, so unless you do something like that i cant see you getting a decent quote, have a try on www.carinsurance1.co.uk for some reason they like sporty cars lol works out £500 cheaper than other companys for some stupid reason as they are the same insurance companys that come up on the broker.

I tryed with adrian flux, to go on my dads insurance and was told the named driver has to be 25+

but i had my rs turbo's insured with them when i was 21 on my own at £900 with no no claims but i had to be a member of the rsoc and a passion ford member to get it at this price.

With adrian flux ... one of my friends put an air filter on his rst and it put the insurance down! for some reason they saw it as he liked his car more, so its worth trying, just dont go too mad like hybrid turbos ect ... could end up doubling your quote

go on www.carinsurance1.co.uk

or confused ao autotrader or compare the market

your like me mate no specialist wanted to touch me all of these will quote you aslong as you got a clean license the one at the kept coming up the cheapest for some reason .
the carinsurance1 seemed to come up £500 cheaper on my frs for some reason so give them all a try and see whos the cheapest.

what you will find mate is not a lot of places will give you an agreed valve insurance.

good luck as it is possible as ive had loads and had 2 cossies at 20 years old
