Bloody wankers!
Tyring to insure myself on a Ford Escort Si cabby 1.8 (mk6) and im getting quotes of over 3300 fully comp just because its a 1.8!
i was paying 1600 on my fiesta si fully comp and now its a 1.8 its doubled! i wouldnt mind if it was twice as fast but its not! i dont see it being any faster than my si due to power to weight!
its a joke!!
i have 1 years ncb and no points or convictions
anyone have any ideas?

its not just about power/speed m8, its all about how easy it is to steal/ how desirable it is thus putting it in a higher group ,
mk4 xr3i cabby is group 16 , yet rs turbo grp 15
just how it is m8, wots it worth as might be an idea if u really wanna insure it go 3rd party f & t

My insurance went up because I insured a Sierra Cosworth instead of my Escort Cosworth... I asked how they figured that as the Esc Cos (IMO) is more desirable and worth more if stolen for parts. They said they've had more Sierra Cosworth's stolen, so higher premium... I changed insurance companies and saved £200.

Verts are always quite a bit more to Insure...
At 18 I had an xr3i then went to an xr3i cab, and it was quite a bit more too from what I can remember!

I'm 21 and a m3 vert was about £300 more a year to insure than an m3 coupe!!

To be honest mate, if you are under 21 it is pointless having fully comp, and if the car is worth less than 4k it is pointless having fully comp IMHO, as you will pay near enough the value of the car over 2 years as you have found out. Go TPFT, and don't drive like a tool and you will be fine

well at the time i insured my si fully comp was cheaper belive it or not due to the way the market was competing, i think its more stable now though.
ive spoke to a insurance company and they said im bast of waiting till im 19 on monday as it will drop to £2000 then.
so for the sake of 4 days im waiting till then.
I dont drive like a tool anymore must admit i used to but ive had some close calls so im alot wiser now
cabbys are a nightmare to insure, tried getting a quote on an xr3i cab, being 19 with 2 years no claims and that was 2 grand!!! now pay 900 quid for my series two, madness.

ditto no point having fully comp on a car worth about 1k
youve probbyl got a 500quid excess anyway, so you'll probably end up with about 200-300quid tops if they pay out. and it'll cost more than that at renewal time with your claim history and lack of NCB anyway... lol

One of my mates is 19 and pays £280 (tpf&t) a month on a mk4 golf gti turbo.. cant see how he can justify payin that much on what is a fairly slow car.. Try gocompare.com there good for standard cars and i found adrian flux were really good for very modified cars, well they were for me anyway.
