Cosworth Blacktop Zetec Turbo Rebuild Kit
Chaps,
Just got a new deal from PEC. As you all know they never used to offer low comp pistons for the blacktop... well they do now... and to make it even easier for you I have put together a kit which includes NEW ACL bearings, ARP Bolts, H-Section Rods, Focus RS Headgasket and of course our help!
This kit includes:
Cosworth Forged Pistons, available in 2.0 or 2.1 trim (86mm with oversize options of +0.5 and +1mm)
New Piston Rings
Gudgeon Pins
PEC Forged Con-Rods
ACL Mains Bearings
ACL Big Ends Bearings
Focus RS Headgasket
ARP Conrod Bolts
All the above for just £950+VAT
This kit fitted to a 2.0 blacktop with supporting mods should see over 400bhp. (we are currently building a kit car with this package and Rotrex Supercharger aiming for 420bhp)
If you wish to add in a full Rotrex Kit (Charger, Oil Cooler, Resivoir, Traction Fluid and Piping, we can do so for an extra £1,440+VAT)
Need management? Our V4 basemapped to your spec for the above setups, add £495+VAT
Any questions, post or PM me!

Not a problem, I don't see the point in rediculous pricing, our main money comes from tuning/labour so parts and ECUs etc I try and give away as I know before I ran M-Tech how expensive engine tuning can be for the man in his garage

Cheers guys. Well once I have mapped ours I will post up dyno graohs etc. As we can get brand new 2.0 Blacktops for £700, I am thinking of offering a full brand new 400bhp supercharger+forged engine and management package for something like £4,500... lets see the results though first

Andy,
Theres no real 'max' I can specifiy... as per PEC, other parts of the engine will fail usually before these do.
I am happy to un ours at 500bhp, but I inagie the crank will fail here... bad mapping will kill pistons..
Cheers,
Matt

Yes we can do them without the rods. The pistons are 8.5:1 but we can machine them lower if needed.
Thanks,
Matt

What else apart from management is required to fit the S/C kit? I don't see any brackets, belts, hoses etc.
I'm assuming it's not a car specific kit?????
Also is it the Rotrex C30 charger?

Yes its the C30, and in terms of a full kit we now have laser cut bractetry which is £210 to bolt the charger onto the inlet side of the engine below the inlet and above the oil filter.
You would then need hoses and belts specific to your vehicle.

thats a very good price for the pistons and rods. 4 years ago when i bought mine i had to have custom made stuff.
carrillo rods were £850, and wiseco pistons were £650 iirc!
FYI sunny ran a standard crank in his fiesta top speed brute, that was circa 550bhp
that was a silvertop tho

I'm interested in the charger but...
Do you have any details on what kind of boost it will produce at certain revs? (i.e 20psi @7000rpm).
Do you know what the maximum engine revs I can run using this kit are and how much boost it will run at it's maximum revs.
Do you know if it's ever been fitted to a focus, if there's the room to fit it and if I can use the standard cam belt.
Sorry for all the questions but if I'm going to buy one I need to know this stuff before I buy.

Hogdog,
The boost is determined by itd RPM, and we can also restrict it if needed. It is also down to the size of the charger. We vary the pulley size to alter the boost curve.
Its been fitted to Focus before, we havent undertaken it directly, but have fitted several to 2.0 Zetec blaktops as we do alot of work on kit cars.
It is run by the Aux belt, not cam belt, and you would need a differnt belt, but at around £5 its not really a factor.
Questions are good, means you understand what you are undertaking.

Very very interesting, should work well with a light weight flywheel then,
The main question on my lips is, the focus ST170 how to we get around this epic engine and bolt on bits. i.e vvt. inlet manifold. and the dreaded Black Oak. mgmt.
I looked at this charger a few years ago and my mate was doing his vr6 2.9 golf and this was a poopular kit for them.
I'd be very interested to discuss further any idea's you have, PM please.

What is the recommended compression rate on a supercharged engine?
I hear that the compression can remain standard when supercharging and that reduced comp. is only needed when turbocharging?
