Default Quick Question...How do i run with NO Boost at all???

Is it simply a case of locking the Wastegate fully open???

Ive got a severe Misfire, but running it off load on Axle stands its fine through to redline.

I want to roadtest it now with no boost...

Is it possible?

Disconnect the actuator rod so the wastegate opens at the slightest hint of boost but if I rememebr correctly it'll just fart and won't rev past about 3k.

extend the actuator rod as far as it takes to reduce the boost to virtually zero

or stuff a sock in the inlet of the turbo!

just unclip the thing... there should be an e-clip to undo then itll pop off the wastegate (the actuator rod that is)

the wastegate will stay open itself as the gases will push it open... no need to hold it open manually...

youll be lucky to see 1-2psi even all the way up to the redline like that...

ps the car will be VERY slow

Thanks fella's.

I had posted in the Technical Section about the problem ive got, and received lots of things to try. One of which was the question 'Does it do it off boost'

And it doesn't.... so thought i'd see what happened if i ran it up (Axle stands) to get to the problem rev area, then if it started misfiring i could then start checking various things...

But it didn't misfire...

Thanks fella's i'll have to try a road test now...

does sound like plugs - check the gap and have a spare set of plug to try to to prove a point...

Tim...

that theory would mean every time the waste gate opens it would carbon up!!!!

They are not that critical on tollerences!

eh??????
so what do you suppose happens when the wastegate opens normally? no carbon? The tiny bit that may accumulate in that time will soon rub off with a bit of preload on the gate...

What about disconnecting the amal valve. Take the clip off the top of it and u'll have no voltage to it.

Might be wrong, but it wont do any harm

this will reduce the max boost, but depending on the preload on the actuator, boost will still be made.
Disconnecting the actuator for the duration of the test is the easiest and most predictable way..
