Default Starting problem.....

Posted this on the MR2 board (as you would expect) but since people are obviously a fair bit more knowledgeable on here, I thought I'd post it up anyway.....

Okay, quick run down of the probs.

Car was sat for about six weeks up until last week when I tried to fire it up. Low battery meant it flooded, so after much messing around with plugs, it finally fired up, albeit with a real struggle.

Ran it for while, warmed up and down, fans in and out etc, then put it away.

A week later (this morning), fired it up, ran it round the corner from where it's stored, and into the drive. Switched it off. Now it wont start again.

Seems to be overfuelling like you wouldn't believe! You can smell the vapour, plugs are coming out sopping wet.

Ignition all seems to be in order - just seems to be permanently flooded! It's never done this before, but has always run like dog from cold, so I'm wondering whether the coolant temp sensor may be on the blink.

As such, can anyone identify these three sensors on the thermostat housing?

Wondering if it might be some sort of cold start/enrichment issue, as I've never had it not start like this.

Help please!

Cossies do this if you don't drive them after several cold starts. Basically the plugs completely foul up. The only thing to do is pull the plug lead caps off and the push them lightly on to the plugs. This gives more resistance and should help clear the car. However, the only real cure is to DRIVE it to get the car properly warmed through and get rid of the unburned fuel.

Excpet that cossies don't have a cold start injector and time switch, and this bloody thing does.

Surely that would make it even worse, as it's never reaching the end of the cold start cycle, so has shit loads of fuel sitting in it - especially from how you describe the smells.

You'll need to take the plugs out to let the fuel evaporate and try in a few days .
