I think its gonna come down to distance, and how well/bad you launch.

I think the corsa will beat you off the line, but you will catch it and murder it!

If it was a rolling start, I would have no hesitation in saying you would kill it, but lets face facts, RST's are crap off the line.

imo you will beat the corsa 150 bhp is not imo enought to be a gen 230 bhp rst but


there is not way a 230 bhp rst will beat a turbo corsa they do very high 13's as standard and 13'5's with a chip

I beat a turbo corsa when mine was at 235hp, pretty comfortaly aswel. He was smoking a bit on boost to be fair but didn't really put up a fight.

ive never seen an xe'd corsa run less than a 15.0 flat with the v tunning or powercap set up

have seen a few run 14.7-9 with a plastic welded SFI box though

has a big diffrence apprentley

novas genrally speaking run 2-4ths quicker from my expirence

the C/X14 and 16 and the 2.0 xe arent bad down the strip

My relatively standard RST kept up wi a Cavvy GSi, I'd imagine a highly tuned RST would eat it - can't wait to hear the result!

Plus the RST looks ever so slightly better than a wanky 5dr corsa

I got done by one in my old frst which had exzaust and filter , well couldn`t make up ground on it , and if anything it was slightly pulling

But with my old rst which was 156@wheels , the same thing happened and if anything the corsa could`nt catch me ( different one ) and if anything i pulled on him

so u should see him no problems as long as your rolling , but say over a standing start or 1/4 mile it might be different , but if u have 200+ there should never be a problem

tbh mate if you get beat off a corsa XE or a nova XE you seriously cant drive, if your car is genuinely 230bhp

corsa XE's are NOT rapid, tbh ive raced one in my Golf- which for the record is only 120ish bhp and a damn sight heavier, and he could NOT catch me upto 135, was only then that he went past me,

if its got a f16 box in it will have bottom end acceleration but struggle to get past 130mph, if its got an f20 box in then its gonna do a better top end but struggle on take off

theyre nowhere near as fast as people think, and as for it weighing 800kgs fully loaded no chance- ive seen JR's car in the flesh and its got NOTHING in it to weigh it down, corsa's are a lot heavier than ppl think.

tell the cock jockey to get a fucking grip and try and get a real car.... and thats coming from a previous vauxhall owner

it would be fighting a lost cause, and the fact that genrally knowledge should dictate that a 200bhp+ RST will beat a 150bhp xe'd corsa in most disaplins

as most people have said off the lights the corsa "should be faster" but other than that the ERST should be better

a LET corsa would be a diffrent matter though

not a stupid post, i've seen the corsa in the flesh unlike 99% of the people who have posted in this topic, am a regular down at wigan where danny and alot of other enthusiasts meet up. and i've seen this corsa go and me and a friend cossie nick genuinely think this will give danny a good run if not beat him.

unfortuatley i have been out and driven a load of Xe'd and LET corsa

and 99% of the comments in this thread are right

the corsa will beat the RST off the lights, and that is about it

150bhp vs 200+bhp is quite easy to see what will be better

and its not even a one sided argument from me, as you will see on the last page i have a corsa, and am as much as vaux enthuisast as a ford one

they weigh roungly the same, one hs much more power than the other

ME in my old S2 with 170bhp versus Karls 205 Mi16 before he'd tweeked it at all.

We'd both launch he'd get away quickly about a car length then we would match each other through the gears and neither would gain or loose on the other.

My mate had an Astra GSi redtop that had been chipped both our cars were very similar.

I think it will be relativly close myself but you'll edge in front if you have the power you say and can drive the car

i am also a lover of vauxhalls. i have a red top nova.
although corsas and nova make very good 1/4 mile times compared to the escorts the long and short of it is this:

if the escort is really 230bhp and the driver is half decent is SHOULD beat the corsa in a race that isnt just down a straigh road.

the corsa stands a chance on something like a 1/4 mile strip. but in general the escort is the quicker car.


would be good to hear what actually happens.

but just reading that it is actually an 186bhp corsa rather than standard 150 it should be quite close.
but i'd still say the extra 48 bhp the escort has should be enough to just take it as long as the power is used well!
