im no cossie expert but taking the oil feed pipe off from the turbo when the engine is running is asking for trouble!

id say from what you have said that the turbo and/or piston rings are shot!

as said above DONT remove the oil feed while engine's running!

best/cheapest bet then is to take turbo of and have it checked 1st by a turbo firm etc and then go from there ie head of and check the guides etc and then b4 u know it YOUR having a full blown rebuild just to make sure!

ps HAVE checked the breathers?

My Escort Cossie is smoking but only after about 15 seconds of idling Seems OK under normal driving and even under boost as far as I can see, a couple of people on here have told me it'll be my turbo seals that are shagged

Just have to make a decision on wether the car is worth doing,
i could replace the turbo and the valve seals could then need doing,
aswell as the exhaust is on it's last legs and the shocks have seen
better day's,so it's all gonna add up to a tidy little sum on a car that's
17/18 years old,is it really worth saving

It's not the work involved that bother's me RST and i know your dad would let me use his garage where you'd be more than welcome to get your hand's dirty, but i dont think the car is worth spending that kind of money on it and im pretty sure the father in law would'nt be able to afford it.

Will proberbly be one less crystal blue saff on the roads
once ive expained all to the father in law
