That is definately all show and absolutely no go I believe its been put together by Owen Engineering and those are baby turbos of a smart car They are fitted to an EVO engine.

it has never been run up and they have no idea whether it will be good or bad

less lag on the positive side I suppose?

AndyBrew, will post my opinion in a minute, just wondered what others through the effect would be, espeically on the lag side of things, but also in terms of the effect on peak power.

Some of the things I raised with guy from Garrett were:

1. Would you not get some form of pulsing with unequal boost?

2. Would you get more losses from the amount of energy it takes to spool them up or would it be less than a single large turbo?

3. Maintenance, I would imagine thats gonna be pricey to replace?

Looks cool though

looks like one gate for 4 turbos(?)..................................which ovbiously opens once the combined boost is reached from 4 turbos. what happens if one turbo is more efficient and one is less but the same boost is generated to open the gate? are there 4 map sensors or something.

P.S i got in at 2 and feel fooked so might be missing something really obvious

Surley the lag couldnt still be a problem? A ie if u got a small turbo on a normal setup then yes it would be quick as it has the gases from all 4 cyc to spool it up. But those turbos only have the gasses from each cyc so would be bad?

Or am i getting the wrong end of the stick?

My response about it was:

I would be utterly amazed if that works well, the turbos are going to get an exhaust gas pulse once every 4 revolutions only, which isnt going to be good for spooling them up, and also when the pulse does arrive, its going to have to try and make its way through that tiny compressor housing which is likely to massively increase the pumping losses of the engine.

It would be difficult to fully estimate the lag that would be present if the engine was to run. As you all say trying to control the boost could be a problem also.

Its definatly good to see someone still has a mad idea. Would love to hear that tho.
