Default Strange MK5/6 escort question.....

is this right that the trackrod end on a MK5/6 escort is as pictured?

Went in the bodyshop today for a little look and where mine meets the ball joint behind the brake disc its bent up quite a bit at the end, are the pictures above correct or have i found my wobbly wheel problem!

Just been told the bit im looking at is probably the lower arm, mine lookes like this...

and should look straight like this...

If its bent like that is it enough to give me a definate wobble every turn of the front wheel?

image driving on a buckled wheel or an unbalanced rim.

ie. every turn of the alloy you get a tug through your steering wheel.

That would definately make the wheel wobble IMO, if thats what your asking? I've replaced a few on my old escort and had one done on my current one as the bushes go and cause an MOT failure quite easily on the mk5/mk6. I've also heard your better going with genuine Ford parts for the lower arms as they're much better quality etc etc

Oh aye that is the lower wishbone arm your looking at

Just a quick point if the impact done that to the arm the chances are the rim itself could be fooked as well

That could well be your problem Andy. Also, be careful when putting the new arm on that you get it torqued up right as they love to come loose and start moving around.

Had it up in the air today, wheel seemed ok but the tyre didnt

I ran it in gear watching the wheel spin, imagine standing directky over the tyre as its spinning, there tyre was going back and forth wobbling, i hope its just that

Recently changed both on mine for MOT. Were fairly easy to remove but a right biatch to get lined up when putting the new ones on! Plus minimal access for hands!
