Depends what you want out of a car really, if you want something that looks better than it really is then an rx7 is ideal

what you mean look beter than it really is,,,,,,,,,,,, the the best available car for the money,,,,,,, looks the bollox, perfect engine power/tuning scope,,,,,,, got all the right parts and its got a look that even the most boring birds would like to be screwed on the bonnet of one,,,,, take of the badges and i bet most think its a ferrari

OR theres the ford sierra,,,,,,, the car that most girls rememeber cause there dad used to own one when they was 10 for the school run,,,,,,,,, be lucky to get a blow job in the back seat let alone screwed on the bonnet

infact proof that the sierra is boring and dull, when i bought my saph my oldman ACTUALLY said hes impressed ive finally grown up and bought a proper car and put my family first

that almost made me put in on autotrader that night
you must of had a boring saff.need to get to some shows.they blow jap crap out of the water.

ive still got my saph , just cant be arsed to fit the engine,,,,,,,, everytime i go to attempt it i almost fall asleep and the boring looks of it

i also got to all the car shows and the piss ups the night before

obviously you go to loads too i guess
i go to a few every year but not to many.enjoy the pod and donny track days.but i get bored just looking around cars all day.i think bog standard saffs are ok but i like them with a descent set of wheels, the right colour and sometimes some quads.my brother has a saff and is now thinking of adding a 3dr and an escort to the collection.greedy i know but his saff will always come first. and what about this one

You have just proved my point about it looking better than it really is by saying"if you took the badge off most would think its a ferrari"

Or are you saying that it is as good as a ferrari.

There are loads of cars out there in that price range that i would prefere, my saph for one and at £4800 i dont think you would get a rx7 in as good condition and as much of a nice example as my car.

it almost worked but cause they make the mazda 323 mazda will alway look like a bosnia refugees car

good news is that the price of the rx7 will be a good car for not alot of cash

i would agree that at 7k you would find a nice 1 but would have to look at loads of sheds at that price to unfortunatly. Like i said earlier in the post i wouldnt own or go out and buy an import as i think that there the shit cars from japan that they dont want and we get fobbed of with.

My mate who owns an mr2 turbo blames the really tight mot tests for them HAVING to export them cause once they gat a few years old they wont pass an mot. That to me is an absolute pile of steaming dog shite cause they still import cars from the early 90s that 15ish years old for fooks sake, its not as if they only export cars 3 4 years old is it

Anyway i'm off out now in my we vauxhall nova to do some spanking lol

my sierra gets the girls spread over the bonnet, once mind you.scared of dentin it.car comes first and all that.i know what your saying but personally if i wanted pure sex then i would go for an escos or rs500 over the rx7.my bro inlaw got a escos and man does that get the ladies wet.
but if we all had the same taste we would all drive around in the same cars.

I would fooking love a Gen3 RX7 I think they have a great body shape, and can be made to look MINT.

I don't know a lot about Wankle engines I must admit - I once saw one at a car show that the owner had ripped the Wankle engine out and slotted in the 1.8 4pot from an S13 Silvia/180SX/whatever it's called, and it had a single big bastid turbo on it. Allegedly 400bhp But that was fun as fook!

Only thing I do know abotu the RX7 rotary engines is comparred to most jap stuff they are quite cheap to tune, in terms of value for money. I read a mag feature (so yeah, I don't know how creditable it really is) but the owner was saying to get near 400bhp out of the engine it only cost £2600, and that on an R34 Skyline, a lightened and balanced crack will set you back £2400 alone... Again, before Itsmeagain jumps in and says it's all bollox, blah blah, I don't know the owner so I don't know the creditbility of that story....

But I would deffo have an RX7 if I could afford one

Yes, that is bollocks

I doubt any magazine ever said a lightened and balanced skyline crank is 2400quid either

Wouldnt be suprised if some idiot paid well over the odds for a flash steel one and paid 2400, but thats a bit different to a L+B std crank!

BTW, doubt youdve seen one with a CA18 in it mate, no way, nobody would be that stupid, they shit.

SR20 maybe, as seen that done. Not in the UK tho.

Knew it - Steve the authority

Mate, I was standing there looking at it with my own eyes. Don't even fucking try and tell me what I have seen and haven't seen. I was standing there, looking at it, talking to the owner - think it was Doncaster car show in 2001 IIRC.... It is entirely possible that the owner who paid for it all and done most of the work didn't actually know what engine he did end up putting in his car, but then I'll take his word over yours as he was there and you were not.

The feature on the RX7 I would scan in and post up, but I binned all my car mags years ago. IIRC it was in Redline as it goes.... Car was built by Dragonsport and was a mental flippy purple colour with a carbon bonnet (I think)

So you, 5years ago, can tell the difference between a CA18 and SR20 engine can you? If not then surely you dont know what you saw, the guy mightve been taking the piss

Anyhow, ive never seen one in this country, ive bought all the Jap mags and others since way before 2001 and seen lots of SRs in FDs in Japan, but never here.
Been to countless other Jap shows and know god knows how many people to do with the scene, and never heard of this car in the UK.

Funnily enough I know Ross who runs Dragon quite well actually, infact I may well die at over 200mph on the M5 in his RX7 shortly soon as he finishes the new engine
Ill give him a bell in the morning, find out some info.

There is a FD with a Chevy V8 in it in this country tho.

If you read what I said Steve;

It is entirely possible that the owner who paid for it all and done most of the work didn't actually know what engine he did end up putting in his car, but then I'll take his word over yours as he was there and you were not
The fact of the matter is, I would take his word over yours, considering it's his car, his money and his work. I mean when I was modifiying cars, I think I had a pretty fucking good idea of what was in it.

And how in the fuck would you know if I could identify and CA18 by sight or not? That baffles me somewhat - you speak like you know me....

But I guess you're right - you know everyone and everything in the Jap tuning world, so if you don't think it exists then there's no way it possibly can, right? Especially as it hasn't been in a car mag you've bought. Based on that logic, both my S1's that weren't in any cars mags didn't exist either right?

I asked if you can tell the difference, not said you cant, you need to learn to fucking read not me mate

My point was IF ou cant tell, how you know he wasnt taking the piss?
Ive told random idiots who come up to me asking about my cars all manor of stupid lies when taking the piss, as I know theyl take my work for it.

This car your on about, it the Purple Dragon RX7 you mentioned yeah? (I wasnt sure if you talking about 2 seperate cars here)

Wont even bother commenting on the rest.

Might wanna think about what you saying rather than just getting arsey and posting rolleyes smilies and shit.

No the car I am on about (with the alleged S13 engine) is not the puple Dragon car. The purple Dragon that was one from a mag feature (I think it was Redline, so it could be easy to find, but I could be wrong - it's been fooking years since I stopped buying those kinds of mags) The car I am on about was red.

And trust me Steve, I ain't getting "arsey" - cos I mean, it's the fooking internet The phrase "bothered" springs to mind...

And the quip about knowing engines - I agree you never actually said that I couldn't tell the difference, but you did insinuate it...

And I did indeed say that he could be completely wrong. But the fact of the matter is he had an engine fitted into an RX7 that wasn't a Wankle Rotary engine - it was an I4 lump longitudually mounted. If the S13 engine is so shit, and the Sr20 so much better, if he was really bullshitting why would he tell me he had the lesser lump?

If I was to bullshit down the pub about my shoky Orion, I would say it had a Cosworth engine, not a shonky 1.6 Zetec...

My point is you need to open your eyes - I'm sure that it is entirely possible that something happens in the modified Jap Car world that you don't know about, or missed. And thats fine! So what? You missed it. Big deal! from the sounds of it it weren't that special anyway! But don't go on and on like your the utmost authority on anything and everything in the Jap tuning world and you know everyone and every car that has ever been fettled with, cos thats just sad. Is it not entirely possible that there might be a few hundred cars in the world that have been modified and NOT featured in a mag?

See my point?

I think this discussion is over don't you? Cos, after all, this is the internet, and whats the point of a bunch of words on a web page? You obviously think I'm lying, either that or you really DO belive your the uttmost authority on it all and unless you've seen it it don't exist, in which case the conversation is definitely over....

I dont think your lying (but maybe), and I dont think I know everything (far from it).
But I still dont think that car exists in the UK, esp not with a CA18, not in an FD. FC maybe, but never heard of that, but in an FD its beyond the realms of what makes sence for anyone to do, ever.

And when some random sad idiot at a car show or in the street comes up and asks me about my car I say loadsa stuff, either totally unbelivable stuff that makes it better than it really is, or MUCH more often I say its got something much worse than it really has, taking the piss.

Anythin to either get rid of em or take the piss.

Dunno if it's been said. Only thing i've read and heard from numerous places. Is that rotary engines need rebuilding alot sooner than a flat 4 straight 6 etc. Think someone told me something like 60k due to carbon deposits somewhere in the engine (cant remember where).

If that's not the case some one will set me straight.

Absolutley lovely to drive. No lag. Sounds out of this world right from idle. Massive head turner. Sit properly on the floor like you should. I will have one after the GTR, without doubt.

Thats the Kazama demo car that Ross has just bought over.
The Purple dragon mentioned earlier was built by Dragon Motorsport of Colchester which went tits up and NOT to be confussed with Ross at Dragon Performance.
Gary Gooding was the guy that had the original Purple Dragon car, currently its been tuned in to a tubbed drag car.
