Default s2 cold start problems - advice needed

hi, as some of you may have read, for the last few days i have had a start-up problem on my s2.

in the morning, when i try to fire her up, she starts for a nano secont, then just cranks over....

there is no fuel at the injectors, unless i hold the flap slightly open on the metering unit, then she will splutter and backfire for a minute, cutting out or really struggleing to idle. then she will all of a sudden clear up, and all is ok

yesterday stu said he was 100% it was an air leak, but then it was fine so i didnt look... this morning it wouldnt start again, so i will check that now.

why would an air leak cause these symptons? any other suggestions?

any help mucho appreciated

Is it possible to tell if their is an air leak by the vacume on your boost guage?

And when my car is running, if I lift the oil cap it sucks it back on, so their must be good vacume - but again will this show if i have a leak?

Car starts if you leave fuel pump priming (bridged relay), press the flap down once, or if cranking and someone holds flap down bout 5mm

runs dog rough when cold, try and rev and it'll cut out, after a minute it's perfect!

And do S1's have the heated seat fuse?

im off to check for that fuse!!!
